a casual processing mail ;)

save the usps millions and get just over 600.00 in return for your efforts. what a joke that is..

bagging the mail, that had to be ugly.

"Are you kidding me! They don't give two shits about us.You know all they care about is their numbers. So screw them!"

that's great pdogg, however; the usps may give you a check but it's every person or business that buys a usps product that pays your wages...

sequence fix /m1238 - I must confess that I have never submitted a suggestion or idea via e-idea. Also, I am now retired - 2007. But, I can tell you this...

In 1973 I submitted a suggestion to USPS regarding the LSM (letter sorting machine - I don't think we even use these any longer). At that time they were bagging all mail pulled from the LSM bins and sending all bags to dispatch...it was a huge mess.

I drew up plans and diagrams as to how USPS could install a traying system for making dispatches from the LSM machines. My plans made dispatching faster, cleaner, and much more proficient.

USPS accepted my idea and implemented it nationwide. Saved USPS Thousands and thousands of $$$...maybe even millions $$$ since it reduced manhours, equipment, and moved up dispatch times.

What did I get from this nationally implemented suggestion? $632.00 - yes, that is correct - $632.00. Oh, I also got a Presidential Citation from President Ford, the Postmaster General, and our local postmaster.

Ideas given or provided to USPS by craft is usually just that...given to them with almost no return for you in relation to the cost savings your suggestion produces for USPS.

Well, there's no need to wonder why the USPS is billions in debt! People like you pdogg that don't give a shit about anything but themselves! How about giving a shit about the people who pay your wages? That would be a starting point!

Why do I give a shit about what exactly? Getting paid for finding a solution to oos errors? Or my job? Or just the fact that I could?

Our plant was incorrect in it's insistance that oos errors were employee caused. As an operator, I decided to try to prove it. I did! Then found a solution to fix the problem. A friend, who happens to be a regular submitted the E-idea on my behalf.

Answer your question!~

Thank You Roy, we may have to have a chat ;)

I am curious if you know how the E-idea proposals work in terms of compensation. I assume it's a percentage of the total cost savings the idea saves? Can you elaborate?

Call Mr. Potter? lol...

Just getting my idea to the plant manager, via the standard "chain of command" was a headache. At any time, anyone who "thinks" they know better can terminate any progression. If it wasn't for myself and our automation supervisor, maintenance would have never tried our suggestions. Even with some basic statistical proof....

Hello again,

As I had mentioned, I am a non career employee, a casual ;)
I've worked in automation on and off for roughly 5 years...

I was able to show our plant how to get our machines to run at roughly .05 to .1

It doesn't seem that anyone knows whats going on at other plants, trying to get this info. is difficult...

If someone could post the mean OOS rate nationwide, that would be awesome ;)

I have submitted an E-idea through a career employee but how do we get action on it? There has been no response to the submission.

From my position, I see no urgency in the Postal Services desire to reduce waste and increase efficiency. Just getting my idea heard and tested has been a ridiculous waste of time and the in-fighting it created, well that was kinda cool ;) I dislike people that think they know everything, when all they see is a computer screen! Time to take the blinders off people.....

Instead, the #1 plant in the nation for oos, runs suspect mailings twice to reduce the oos problem. Talk about a waste of time and money!

Morning... I been to busy this weekend to look over this board. But, I will have to agree with postalvet /m1234 on this one. From ET's on down to MM7 need to be able to access the computer to look up items from MTSC or NCED. So in my office majority of individuals do have access.

sequence fix I have told you in the past that the information you seek is on the blue pages and you have responded that you do not have access to the blue page. How do you do your job with out computer access?

If you are an ET then you should have computer access and then can go to the MTSC site and get all the reports you want.

The office I retired from even permitted the Union craft director to have computer access. So even you should have access.
