The article implies that foot-long lengths are within reason
for mantis shrimp, but the ones here are getting on to 1.25'
(15 inches). That's not quite so scary as imagining a regular
shrimp reaching these lengths.

Ernie, read the article. One of the guys who dredged it up ate the thing. Who knows what's in there. My friends and I avoid it like the plague.

In Japan, the mantis shrimp is known as a shako. They are quite tasty. Looks like something from the movie Alien, however.

It's got me wondering where they caught them...
