Is anyone willing to share their Edutest Data for their schools? I am looking to compare High and low need students to my own school.

One of the interesting things I have seen lately is the impact of budget cuts on technology programs. I have seen schools make siginificant investments in technology over the last 3-5 years in the areas of hardware, software, teacher training and integration into the curriculum. Now many schools (at least in the NY area) are faced with huge budget cuts given the current economic conditions. In many cases I see them cutting their technology programs significantly including the Computer Teacher positions, because it is still not seen as a "must have". The schools are then relying on the classroom teachers to fill the gap and meet the learning standards, although, many of them are not adequately trained and they are significantly cutting the training programs for teachers. It seems as if so many districts have made great strides and are now forced to go backwards in their technology strategy. It would be interesting to see if others are noticing the seem trend.

I think Tebo makes a good point. Hopefully, though, as more students and teachers use technology, they become familiar with the basics. Then they can transfer that knowledge to new tools.

The biggest issue is how long things in technology stick around (or not). You need to take time to teach not just content but also how to use the tool... which is fine if the tool sticks around, but otherwise, you're back to relearning again as tools go fee-based!

Welcome to this forum on Educational Technology. It is my hope that this will develop into a place where educators can discuss issues related to the use of technology in education. To begin this discussion, what do you think are the major isues involving the use of technology in the classroom?
