The pic abstracted for BoingBoing (no. 31) looked familiar. I am 99% certain it is the same severed-aeroplane-head that featured on the cover of an album by A-ha, called Minor Earth, Major Sky. Check it out for yourself.

Morten, it looks like you're right! That's cool -- it definitely looks like the same 707. FWIW, it's now resting comfortably at a metalworkers' shop on the corner of 240th St and Avenue P in El Mirage, CA.

One of the pictures claims to show the lounge stairs for a 747. I was a little surprised to see that; 747 first came out in 1970, and if the aircraft was involved in a major accident, I don't think the pieces would end up here. (For that matter, the pieces wouldn't be that big.)

Paul, might that be the result of a remodel? Somebody ripped out parts of the interior, either to replace with new stairs in the new corporate color scheme, or perhaps to convert it to some other use (cargo?).

Exactly. Or, even more likely, the stairs were removed when the aircraft was scrapped. There was a gutted 747 located not far from these stairs -- the top half of the fuselage had been cut off and it was in use as a shed, sort of like a Quonset hut.

Yep... everything there is for sale, and prices seem reasonable (though not dirt cheap). For reference, I bought a beverage cart (for use as a bar in my living room) for about $100. A severed, gutted cockpit section like the ones in the pictures goes for about $4000. The owner, Mark Thomson, says most of his business is selling airplane parts to Hollywood studios for use in movies, TV shows, etc. Here's the info: Aviation Warehouse: (760) 388-4215

I need some help. I own several restaurants and am
developing a new one. I want to purchase an old single
engine small plane. Somthing without engine, avionics etc.
Basically a junker. I will then clean, paint, patch up
bad spots and hang from the ceiling. Any idea where
I might purchase something like this.
