Hi there,
Thanx for your e-mail, it is so good to keep in contact with old "Rennians"! When I was at J. Rennie, Miss Perrold was headmistress and Mrs. Anderson was Acting Head. Mrs. Cessford was our English teacher, Mrs. Stacey the Biology teacher, and Mrs. Sheridan took us for maths. Miss Mason was our long suffering dom-science mistress!
I used to live in Ash Road, Woodlands, and attended the Woodlands Primary School. Before that I went to the Convent School in the fifties.
I would love to hear from you again,
Regards,
Collette Coetzee (nee Burgess)

HI Anyone,
I went to Jean Rennie when it first opened (after Lusaka Girls' School - headmistress Miss Goring) I think the opening of JR was 1954. The headmistress was Miss Robertson. Elizabeth Anderson was
in my class - also Rosemary Fuller. Elizabeth had a sister Judith and their mother was a teacher at JR. My Nick name is Nola, because I was born on Xmas day - but at school I was known as Martha van Tonder. My best friend was Faith van Deventer (sister called Joy). Would love to hear from any ex Jean Rennians (or Gilbert Rennies). My email address is peterbayley@btinternet.com

Hi everyone,
I would like to find someone who knows my grandfather who worked in Kabulonga Boys School in 70's. He is from Lithuania (ex. USSR member). He taught physics, his name is Vytautas Dagys. Please reply via e-mail (arnas.vitkus@hotmail.com) if someone has any kind of information about anything related with my grandfather or anyone who might have studied there and might know him.

I would be very glad to get him in touch with someone from his unforgetable past in Afrika.

Hoping for a miracle..

Regards,
Arnas

John Harris Hi - browsing and came across your message posted dome while ago. There are some familiar names there that I can update you on. Some sad news, my sister Liz died in January- complications following a brain haemmorhage. Pat and Jill Hatton both married geologists- Jill died many years ago from encephalitis and Pat lives part of the year in Devon. Liz lived in Devon too. I have lived in Manchester for many years. I too have atared thinking about the old days and Kabulonga and the good times we had back then! Looked on GR site and discovered you have heart condition. Hope it's being kept in check.

Hi there,
I am sorry, but I didn't know Jennifer Margaret Ker, but my late father, Pat Burgess, was Principal Accountant in PWD, and would have known her very well.
Good luck in your search,

Attended Jean Rennie on the year it first opened. Must have been about
1955 was there for about five years. If anyone knows me I can be e mailed at Massnor @ aol.com. None of people on message board mean anything to me. I remember a lot of the teachers. Mrs. Bucknall - Latin.
Miss Keir - History. June Rose Barnes - English. Anne Anderson - Maths - she was scarey. Girls in my class included Kay Horne, Rosemary and Patricia Rendal (twins), Gail Hewood Jones.I still have school photo.
Would love to hear from someone who remembers me.

I was in Form 2D, and attended Jean Rennie from 1961 to the end of 1963.
I remember Caroline Immelman very well, who has left a message on this site - if you like, you can contact me at wallette@lantic.net.
There are numerous friends who attended the school with me, and I think of you all so often. Wouldn't it be nice if we could arrange a get-together? We wouldn't recognise each other! God Bless you all.

I'm writing my life story for my family and my best years were in Lusaka and would dearly love to hear from anyone who attended Lusaka Girls School and Jean Rennie from 1950 to 1956.
Clare Bayliss, Pat Dixon, Hilary White, Beryl Burrows, Hilary Lee, Elizabeth & Ann Beattie, Jennifer Hutchins.

I worked for CAMs, Barclays Bank and Wilfred Watson (I got married whilst working here)and left Lusaka in October 1963.
My wedding reception was held at Central Sports Club. I used to attend Scottish Dancing, played hockey for the Police, and had my own horse at the stables. Lived in Ridgeway Ave, Park Rd and Denbigh Rd.

Where are the Borellos? Carmel and Remi?

'65/66, when I was a Rennie/Kabulonga junior, Carmel was in fourth form. Stunning Italian girl with long, dark hair. Her best friend was 'Winkie' Gosling (stunning girl with long, blonde hair ... grrr!)

We all lived in Kasama (500 miles north) which entailed either a flight home on a Dakota, or a nerve-wracking drive through the Congo. If anyone is still in touch - I have pix!

Sharon - absolutely NO help to you, but I was at school with Pat Masterson! Can't now for the life of me remember how/why/when/what. But I have a feeling she was in my class at Kabulonga c1965/6.

If so - we were in Mrs. Whitehouse's class, Form I/II, the year we became Kabulonga after Rennie.

Sorry, very vague, but it is a V long time ago...

Good luck!

Hello there!

HAPPY NEW YEAR to all reader of the Jean Rennie Message Board. Lest you've not seen my posting on the enemy's board (aka Gilbert Rennie) this is just to let anyone interested know that for family history reasons [ly, have grand-children currently hurtling into adolescence]I'm deep into reconstructing my teen-age years in Lusaka.

Would really love to contact friends from those years. Recall teen-type times with sisters Janet and Hilary Lee of Rhodes Park, sisters Pat and Jill Hatton, Barbara Bennet, June Sutherland, Marian Mason ...

A quote from those times around 1953-56:
"Make new friends / But keep the old / For one is silver, / The other gold" anon

Have fun!
Aye,
John
