* Lots of moves - yoga, ab work, triceps, and so on
* Denise Austin: Power Zone - a good workout - mostly standing Pilates work and some yoga moves - also some stuff similar to what I used to do in ballet class a gazillion years ago ...
* Walked up a very steep hill on our property - simply gorgeous view of the ocean - went up and down the hill 3 times.

Rachel Jane ... I felt that I had to do 7 Miles of Leslie ...
Unfortunately, as of now, I need to up the length of my workouts when I can. My left knee has been troubling me, so no Jillian Michaels/Tae Bo kind of stuff, until it heals. I need to spend longer amounts of time on easier (less strenuous) workouts.

On another note, our ds, poor thing, has broken his clavicle.
I feel so bad for him. He's always soooo active and energetic. Now he has to sit far more.
Since it's the first few days, he's still in quite a bit of pain. Motrin's been helping.
His sling comes off the exact day before we leave for vacation. Thank God for that!

My little reminder today (one I'm sure we all know):
"Drink water before each meal to fill yourself up."
When I remember, I try to drink water about 15 minutes before each meal.
I try not to drink during meals.

Ouch! How'd he do that? Poor baby!

negin - i reacted to the seven miles like rachel jane did - WOW!
you've been a workout machine!
your poor son
how did he break his clavicle?
it sounds so painful

rachel jane - i hooped yesterday!
you've been doing a great job staying consistent with your exercising

* Rebounder: 30 Minutes
* Swam in the pool for 1 hour - pouring rain. Love swimming in the rain.

Rachel Jane and April, thank you for caring about ds.
He was running down a hill w/his friends.
The hill has some small stones - not a nice paved hill.
He slipped and fell really badly. Dh saw it all. Fortunately, I didn't see it.
Apparently, breaking your clavicle is quite common, especially in children.
I never knew ...

April, how nice that you hooped!
I'm full of admiration for anyone who can. I know that I can't.
It would be a VERY funny sight! :-)

Negin! I am sorry about your son! Poor guy. Glad he can shed the brace before vacation. Hope your knee feels better soon so you can do ALL the things you want to do.

April, it was nice to read about your class and all that is going on with you and your family. What a busy summer!

RJ, you ROCK as usual. :) Good for you on continuing to be consistent and be flexible when you have to be.

I'm sorry I have not been posting. I DO want us to keep our "space" here, though I feel like I am just copying and pasting between this and the FIAR site.

I have been walking a lot still, and have added the Shred dvd (mother's day gift). It is so hard! Well, PARTS of it are really hard. I still want to get ONE yoga dvd, but will be getting that on my own. Haven't been doing that much lately, though I am not sure why since it makes me feel so relaxed and stretched.

Hope everyone is having a good summer!

* 90 Minute Swim - my muscles were screaming by the end of it.

Tip today for strength training:
"Lift for 2 counts and lower in 4 that’s the breakdown that challenges you the most.
Your muscles are strongest during the eccentric contraction the lowering phase."
I try to always remember this.

Missy, thank you. I just realized that I forgot to give ds his Motrin last night before bed.
Hope he slept okay. His pain is less and less, but he complained because I forgot the night before also ...
Nighttime is NOT my thing! Dh forgot too.

My knee feels a bit better, since I'm trying to make it stronger w/specific exercises,
but I'm still avoiding any deep lunges and jumping moves until it heals completely.
I really, really miss doing Jillian Michaels DVDs, Tae Bo, and my own aerobics routine.

Missy, post here! I'm always copying and pasting. Sorry for that, everyone.
You can ignore my posts here or on the FIAR boards ...

Missy, I can't remember what I recommended to you as far as yoga DVDs,
but I may have some more recommendations to confuse you further!
It's hard though, since everyone's tastes vary.
My yoga instructor has loaned me several and my tastes change.
You do know that www.yogatoday.com has 1-hour routines for free, right?

My two favorites, at the moment, are:
* Rodney Yee: Power Yoga and his Yoga Burn - he has many others also.
You should be able to see a clip on collagevideo or maybe even on amazon.
* Mark Laham - I've only seen his Yin Yoga and I love this one.
http://www.marklaham.com/ - he's not on amazon.
You can see a clip on his site.
The Yin Yoga has 3 separate close-to-1-hour workouts. So, $$-wise, it's a good deal.
I really like Yin Yoga. My instructor has a Yin class with us once a month.
It's where you hold each stretch for a pretty long time. Feels sooo good.

negin, I am going to try to remember your lift two, down four for my bowflex session tomorrow.
Today:
hooped 30
play/trained pup
walked 2 and 1/3 miles

I was going to shred tonight but I just can't bring myself to do it. Instead, I am taking out my contacts and going to bed. :D

* Rebounder: 20 Minutes
* Mark Laham: Yin Yoga (really like this one)

Rachel Jane, hope you got good sleep even though I know you wanted to Shred.

My goals today:
* Take all my usual supplements
* Eat 2 carrots - great for vision, cholesterol, skin, gum inflammation and overall teeth
* "Eat what you want, not what you think you should. You can eat anything you want any time you are hungry, providing that you TAKE THE TIME to really, really enjoy it. As long as you're actually hungry, enjoy, enjoy, enjoy.
From this day forward, nothing is off-limits to you. Ever.
However, if you can't stop once you start or you can't resist a food even when you're not hungry, then in that moment you are out of control. If you have to demolish a whole bar of chocolate or scarf down the entire bag of Cheez Sticks, the food is in charge and not you."

Used my bowflex - did it 2 seconds lift, 4 seconds down this morning. Shreded this evening.

Foods I can't stop eating:
spinach dip w/veggies (note the order)
Pnut m&ms
granola

Lots of yoga poses.
Will be working out w/dh later this afternoon.

Rachel Jane, I really, really miss doing the Shred and my other Jillian workout - No More Trouble Zones. I wish my knee would fully heal.
You mentioned spinach dip. I love making that for a crowd. Truly yummy.
Yesterday I made bruschetta and it was really, really hard to control myself w/that one.
Dh loves Peanut M&Ms. I’m more of a Cadbury’s, Toblerone, and European choc-o-holic.
Ice cream is also my downfall ….

Yes, my chocolate of choice is actually dark chocolate, but I stopped buying it thinking if I don't buy it, I won't have it. Then I started dipping into L's pnut m&ms. It doesn't help that every time he grabs a few for himself, he slips me 6 - one of each color. All of my guys feel the need to feed me! Whats up with that?

I can stay away from the ice cream as long as it is not a flavor I love. I buy mint chocolate chip for the boys. I like it, but am not drawn into eating it.

hi ladies

negin - i hope your knee is fully recovered very very soon
you were a MACHINE with jillian's "shred"
(i should try it again - i've shied away from it since my illness in february)

rachel jane - i had regular M&Ms yesterday
but i was eating them as part of a "mindful eating" exercise for my "am i hungry?" training
interesting

missy - i haven't been here much either
have you and your husband been busy with orders?
are your boys happy school is out?

my last class went well on tuesday
not all of the participants showed up but it was okay
the women that were there gave me a flowering plant and a thank you card with very nice sentiments written inside
such lovely ladies

a new session of my class was scheduled to begin yesterday
but there weren't enough people signed up so it was cancelled
i kind of expected that though
the women in my class told me that summer is just too busy
and the community center said enrollment goes way down
they've asked me to do more classes in the fall
i'd love to but i'm not exactly sure if we'll be here or not

i FINALLY did LESLIE again last night
i picked two more challenging one mile walks (with lots of upper arm moves and 3 lb weights)
i was sweating when i was done!
it felt so good

oh - and, after applying several times since february 2008!, i'm finally signed up for walk leader training at leslie's studio in pennsylvania august 15!
i've been trying to get this certification to add to my credentials for my class
leslie is actually going to lead a one-mile class for the participants during the taining :)

what else?

my nephew's been here all week (he just lives in seattle) visiting the boys
(he's 15yo, mine are 16 and 11)
they had a blast together

alexander's wisdom teeth removal has been postponed (it was supposed to be today) because his allergies are really bad right now and he can't breathe
we'll see what the ear/nose/throat guy says next week about scheduling the wisdom teeth around the nose surgery

eric and i are going to the washington state homeschool conference this friday and saturday
it'll be the first time eric has ever been to one (i've gone every year since i started homeschooling - in alaska and last year in washington)
i thought he'd be interested to see what's available for high school

well, i'd better get to work around the house
i've been trying to catch up on things that need my attention
and i've actually been cooking dinner again!

mr. smith and harlowe have been lots of fun
they tear around our house like crazy
they haven't met the dogs face to face yet
but they stare at jag and sasha through the french door a lot
i still think sasha would like to taste them though
she's a great hunter and she thinks they're rodents!

I get these messages in the daily digest form and I really, really hate the format.
All these numbers come after each line - "=20". Very annoying.

Today, I did:
* Some yoga sequences and other moves - arms, abs, etc.
* Leslie Sansone: Fast Firming (more of a strength training workout)
* Swim: 45 Minutes

April, thank you for thinking about my knee. It is getting better, but I still need to be careful.
How are you feeling these days? Thinking of you a lot.
Wow! So you're going to see Leslie! That's exciting!
We'll be in PA around the same time, but I don't think very close to where she's based.
Is she in Pittsburgh or there-abouts?
I've never been to a homeschool conference.

My goal today:
EAT ½ TO ¾ OF EVERY MEAL RAW
Place the fruit and vegetable pieces in the center of the table where they belong.
Let everything else be the garnishes.

Rebounder: 20 Minutes

Swim: 1 Hour - I always do different moves in the pool as well - leg lifts, standing ab work, and so on. My favorite part is at the end of my swim, when I float on my back and look up at the clouds.
