Here in NYC we just had an election where a winning candidate in the Bronx was a Democrat *who had announced his intention to become a Republican*—but since the candidates had to make up their own party names (no "Dem" or "Rep" allowed), voters who didn't keep up with the news didn't have a clue. Our Republican mayor is pushing for "nonpartisan" elections, so people won't have any idea what they're voting for.
