Why do we need a UK tier of bureaucracy?, we only need an English and an European parliament. If we must have a UK tier than it could deal with foreign policy, defence, business law, foreign aid and membership of the UN only. It should have a budget of 1.27 percent of Englands GDP per year only, and should not be allowed to borrow money.

I agree whole heartedly with Tom, regional assemblies are a dead end street. A campaign to establish an English Parliament MUST be the first priority of the party. Surely this can only be achieved if the issue is raised in the minds of our fellow countrymen, in effect elevated above "mundane politics". The question is how do we sieze the agenda, how do we educate the voters, how do we grab their attention and effectively point out the innequalities of the present system? How do you stir them up enough to go out and vote for change?

The EDP Policy group are looking for fully worked out proposals for an English Parliament, (including any suggested changes to a remaining British federal parliament).
These don't have to be original. Existing proposals which are available in electronic form would be welcome.
Please send as email to: policy@englishdemocrats.org

The need for an English Parliament is, I believe, the most pressing constitutional issue for every person in this country at this moment in time.
Regional Assemblies, as John Prescott wishes to impose, will be the worst of both worlds- local councils will be abolished and we will have no united English voice either.
Above all topics on this discussion forum, I urge it's users to look into the campaign for an English Parliament straight away before anything else.
ENGLISH PARLIAMENT NOW.
