In a statement reported in several Canadian newspapers and in an upcoming issue of the Adventist Review, Quebec’s Minister of Education, Jean-marc Fournier, states that all schools in his jurisdiction must teach the provincially prescribed curriculum, including “Darwin’s theory of evolution.” The statement was made in response to a complaint by a district school board against a small Evangelical school which teaches students the Scriptural account of creation alongside the theory of evolution.

Dr. Julia Falla, principal of Greaves Adventist Academy in Montreal, is confident that there is no immediate threat to Adventist education in Quebec, stating that they have not been contacted by government and that there has never been any complaint about the instruction offered there. However, the school does not teach evolutionary theory at all. At most, Falla says, it would only teach evolution as an alternate theory on the origin of the universe, and it would only do so if forced. Canadian Adventist messenger, November-December 2006 p.3. If this Dr. Falla [principal] would have made such a bodacious claim to God’s face, I assure you, she would be fired. Parents, it’s not every logo that says Adventist school, should let you let your guard down and bury your head like an ostrich in the sand and pretend nothing would happen.

I was waiting outside the store before they opened on the 1st day to buy my hiptop. I still love it, though I wish they'd release the sdk already! I got a little twinge of remorse when I read the color one would come out summer '03 but if they miss the stated release date by as much as they did with the original then it won't be out until summer '04.

Uhm...wouldn't that colour screen suck up battery power
like a midget through a dryer hose?

(Sorry for the unfinished metaphor...)

Yeah, and what's up with the notepad craps out at 20 memos? That might be enough to stop me considering it as a palm replacement...

That's pretty funny, I just asked Cory about his yesterday and I mentioned that I might wait for a color one anyway since my contract doesn't run out until May anyway. I never thought i'd say this, but thank god for contract penalties.

I'm getting wierded out about the Hiptop. When I bought mine, the weekend they were released, I had the palpable sense of being one of the first to own a revolutionary device...revolutionary not just for its form factor and convergence, but for its price. The first mainstream Communicator. But where's the promotions? The support? The ballyhooed updates? I love my Hiptop, but Danger, what's up?

Dear Danger: I promise not to get all pissy about buying your device only to see a better version come out two months later, if you promise to fix the existing browser to correctly acknowledge "handheld" stylesheets, nobr tags, and fix that incredible failure to ring bug. An SDK release would be double-plus. xoxo-cbx
