? 551 Large processing plants might be downsized but doubtfully closed. Less employees needed in a smaller plant so layoffs thru congressional repeal of the "less than 6 year" MOU, are likely.

?-- Some people just LOVE starting rumors to get people upset. I wouldn't worry about it.

Elmira still has 6 dps machines. They also have 5 manual flat cases that they use every night. Still has a first class belt and a pallet belt that the mail handlers get alot of O.T. on.

roc has been SLATED to get them; no where near having them now. 2 "rumored" scenarios - start installing 6 mos from now (means they "might" be working next summer); or not until 2011

Is it true that the new dps flat sorters have arrived in Roch. N.Y.? If so will the flats be leaving Elmira soon?

Interesting that there is now a forum/topic on "Plants Closings".
It's a sign.

The Postal Service has become what we have talked about as a "dying breed". The pony express no longer exists and so will the postal service. If you had not considered another career with less than ten (10) years in the postal service, it is time to do so.
