The Postal Service has become what we have talked about as a "dying breed". The pony express no longer exists and so will the postal service. If you had not considered another career with less than ten (10) years in the postal service, it is time to do so.

When my REC closed, the radius for jobs was 50miles from the site. The plant I transfered to was 54 miles from my home; my commute to the REC had only been 2.5.
Because the NEW job exceded my travel to the old job by more than 50 miles, I was able to get the USPS to pay for moving expenses (moving company, 5 days admin leave to scout for housing, etc).
Since the excess radius has been expanded to 500miles, I don't know what the rules are now.

The Postal office does NOT PAY MILEAGE FOR BEING EXCESSED. SOMEONE IS LYING TO YOU. If it is temporary yes but that is not excessing...bad way to describe what is going on in your plant. It is called a detail.
