September 26, 2003 The 5th Rating tournament is scheduled on October 26, 2003 at the Metrolane Dojo, P. Tuazon st. corner 20th Avenue, Cubao Quezon City. Categories are : Men's Sai unrated, Men's Bo unrated, Women's Sai unrated, Women's Bo unrated, Men's Sai rated 1399 and below, Women's Sai rated 1399 and below, Men's Bo rated 1399 and below, Women's Bo rated 1399 and below, Men's Sai rated 1400 and above, Women's Sai rated 1400 and above, Men's Bo rated 1400 and above, Women's Bo rated 1400 and above. Congratulations to Chairman Jun Caballero for passing San Dan and acquiring his Instructor's permit. Also to Paul Arellano for passing Sho Dan. Jesmon Ocaya in on a six month provisionary status after which he will undergo evaluation for Sho Dan.

20 year old Junko Shiroma of Ryukyu Kobudo Hozon Shinko Kai Okinawa Sho Honbu won the 2003 World Championships Women's Sai Division while 17 year old Fumia San won the 5th place in the Boy's Junior Bo division. Philippine entries failed to enter the finals but gave a creditable showing. It was almost a sweep of the medals by the Okinawans as only one foreigner won a Gold medal. August 18, 2003 The 4th Philippine Rating Tournament has been moved to September 18, 2003 at the function hall of the Parc Chateau Condominiums, Onyx st., Ortigas Center Pasig City. Categories for competition are : Unrated, Rated 1399 and below, and rated 1400 and above in Bo and Sai only. The permitted kata for unrated category are Shushi no kon sho and chikin shitahaku no sai. The premitted kata for rated 1399 and below category are shushi no kon sho, sakugawa no kon sho, chikin shitahaku no sai and chatanyara no sai. The permitted kata for rated 1400 and above category are shushi no kon sho, shushi no kon dai, sakugawa no kon sho, chikin shitahaku no sai, and chatanyara no sai. June 27, 2003 : Ryukyu Kobudo Hozon Shinko Kai lost a great teacher when Shigeo Izumi Sensei passed away today. Izumi Sensei, one of the original students of Eisuke Akamine Dai Sensei, was Vice President of Hozon Shinko Kai and head of the Okinawa-Shi Dojo. The Philippine Dokokai condoles with Izumi Sensei's family and the Ryukyu Kobudo Hozon Shinkokai. Read more..Edited 07-05-2003 11:36 AM

Minoru Yamakawa Sensei is the official coach of the Philippine Kobudo Team to the August 16-19 2003 Okinawa World Karate-Kobudo Rengokai Championships in Naha, Okinawa Japan.
