The various forms of torture such as sleep deprivation, forced standing, and painful stress positions, almost sounds like a typical day on the farm. Colic in the middle of the night, farrier work, feeding, picking stalls, etc. All are various forms of torture it seems.

Ok Florida buddy's. We are bringing horses to Florida for the first time and I need a little info to make sure I don't have any issues at the state line. Is anything needed besides a health certificate and a current coggins? Vaccination records?

Hey Girl, we're riding Snowhill - hopefully no poachers! Good idea though just to be on the safe side - we will have 1 red horse - tell Tony we say "HI" and you enjoy practice.

Rosy - During this time of year, I wear a orange vest or Tshirt even when I ride in the Orange grove. Please ask your fellow trail riders to be wear safety orange and avoid the woods/trails near hunting areas. We sometimes encounter riders or hikers without any safety vests on, pretty silly during deer hunting season in Ocala :( LawCat - Our gang will be up in Marion County, in Paisley running dogs... wish them luck! Deer meat is most expensive meat but it makes my Tony smile to hear the dogs run! I will be killing ballons this weekend at practice. See ya'll soon.

Dear CMSA Members,

As most of you already realize the needed number of entries are not coming in for the Gulf Coast Classic. World just finished, Thanksgiving coming up and a less than strong economy have slowed entries, so after speaking with the arena and the local parish, who have put up the $10,000.00 added money to draw in visitors to Gonzales, and sharing the lower than expected number of entries with them, we came up with the following plan.

They will give us till noon Friday (11-13-09) to get to their break-even number of 100 shooters. If we cannot reach this number the event will be canceled and the $10,000.00 will go away.

In talking to the new general manager from the parish, he expressed how much the locals were looking forward to our event and the numerous phone calls they have received. He also was pleased with our honesty. But let's face it; they are in business to make money not lose it. The 100 shooters is a breakeven point for them and the CMSA will not leave them hanging. As the leader in the sport of Cowboy Mounted Shooting it is important we maintain our credibility in the equine industry.

If the event is canceled those who have signed up will receive 100% of their entries back. So if you have been planning to enter, please go online and do so before 12:00 Noon CST on Friday. Let's show the city of Gonzales that we appreciate their support.

Thanks,

Dan Plaster
CMSA President
