As you're boycotting retail sales this season, look back to a term you learned in 7th-grade history class -- the "trickle-down affect."
Believe it or not, when K-mart goes out of business or another major retailer reports poor sales, people lose jobs, and their families suffer. Not everybody is blessed with a non-profit or educational job. My job depends and our nation's economy depend on people going out and spending a little money this season.
How some people can "manage conferences that explore finance" and still be so hypocritical as to support something like BND is completely beyond me. Xeni, can you explain how you can support this and still go around wearing business suits, lipstick, and earrings, all bought from a retail store? Is this like Earth Day, where we're supposed to recycle once a year?
By the way, Xeni, I'm a fan, but I just have to disagree with you on this one...
