Am seeking a Henry Benedict Stuart, not sure of birth date, but he died 1807. Also I think he was a Cardinal, and somehow connected to Bonnie Prince Charlie

Help! I need data re the Earls of Castle-Stuart in Ireland. I'm related to a John Stuart who married (around 1735)Mary Shaw, d of John Shaw "of the Braid" Parish of Camcastle in County Amtrin (sp) Ireland. HOWEVER, John Stuart and his 3 brothers, Andrew, Archibald, and David came to Virginia between 1725-1740; John Stuart ("Judge" John Stuart) and his brothers supposedly came from Castlestuart (sp); my relative is this John Stuart. I think he's from the illigitimate line of Walter Stewart of Morphie. In RoyaList, the data re children of Walter Stewart of Morphie does not go far enough. There is a statement that this Walter Stewart of Morphis was also the ancestor of the Earls of Castle-Stuart in Ireland. Do you have more info? Thanx! Pamela

I am looking to substantiate the claim that the brothers, Archibald, Andrew, David and John Stuart, early immigrants to America in the 1730's, were from the Castle Stuart family of County Tyrone, Ireland. Does anyone have anything definitive about this claim. I would appreciate any assistance on this topic.

Pamela Rochefort:
I am related to Andrew Stuart. Was your family aware that John Stuart had siblings in America, including Andrew? Did your family pass down any info. regarding a royal connection or is that something you have recently stumbled upon? Please advise.
Thanks kindly,
Cynthia Elder
P.S. Our family seems to think that Andrew may have been related to the Duke of Monmouth?

Your website is a brilliant resource - especially when trying to work out which Gloucester (for instance) Shakespeare is referring to.
Thank you,
Simon - with absolutely no desire to be connected to the UK's dysfunctional aristocracy; let alone its monarchs...

William and Catherine Dunbar settled in what was then Cumberland country near Carlise, Penn. One son married into the Parker family. William may have had brothers that came over at the same time, earlier or later David and Andrew.
