Woo hoo! Messages...!
As far as the e-mail notification, you have to subscribe and answer how you want to be notified of new messages (either daily, per post, or not at all) Let me know if it still won't work for you.
Went to Salinas Beach the other day...lots of gulls and one big old lumbering pelican right in the middle of them! Later, I spotted him "balancing" on the telephone wire over by the harbor. The wire literally bounced when he flew off.
Happy New Year all!

Hey! Cool! Notice the little /m3 tag at the top of my previous message...if you click on that link, it will pop up the message it is responding to. You have to type it in yourself but it's a handy way of maintaining "strings".
As far as Jack, he might be back in town. I don't think he was going for good yet. I don't have his e-mail address here at home. If someone could send him an e-mail (or send me his address), I want to make sure he knows about this new space.

although not at the slough or general area the Nutting's flycatcher at Laurel st. was very co-operative in letting everyone see s/he.....I must confess that without prior knowledge I would not have been able to pick this bird out from about 4 other flycatchers that have similar markings; I guess that is why some people learn to bird by ear....

Today, the 9th, the mountain bluebird was again at the Moss Landing cemetary; giving excellent views of how gorgeous he is..

Thanks for the report Shirley and congrats on seeing the Emperor goose! I was off skiing so I missed it. Jeana and I have tried to see the Nuttings flycatcher in S.C. but have had no luck so far. LJ

Today was a spectacular day at Point Lobos. Highlights----many good looks at migrating whales, a singing thrasher, a pair of RB mergansers and a flotilla of 34 eared grebes. Also the ceanothus and zigadene are beginning to bloom.

Thur. Jan 16 th while doing the shorebird monitoring I saw an Osprey lift off from the water, shake its wings, and rearrange a 8" fish in its talons and then fly off......never know what you will see on these monitoring expeditions----at the visitors center around 5:15 pm a tree swallow flew into the next box outside the docent den......is it that time already???
