For anyone concerned about your job, don't worry there ARE jobs out there. I just saw a sign to day:: Help Wanted; $8.00 an hr. Must work nights and weekends. $1.00 extra per hr. for night work. NO BENIFITS. Starting to make the PO sound pretty good, isn't it!? And this was a convienece store. Should get combat pay. This place has been robbed at least ten times that I know of! Anyone interested?

For anyone that is anti-union, read post #1159 posted by spent. The casuals are treated this way because they have no protection. Do you really want to be treated this way? Don't think for a second that you wouldn't be either.

To: Spent, post# 1159, I agree, casuals really get a raw deal. I would NEVER work as a casual. It must really get old to work you butt off, while the regulars are doing next to nothing and complaing how bad they have it. I guess the casuals that hang around must be really desparite for a job, and that's understandable, but still not right. I have known of supervisors firing casuals just because they were having a bad day, because they would brag about it later. Hope things improve one day soon.

TEMPORARY CASUALS HAVE NO RIGHTS AT ALL, THEY CAN FIRE YOU WITHOUT A REASON. I KNOW I AM ONE IN A NON DUTY PAYSTATUS AND MY BADGE TAKEN FROM ME. WE ARE USED AND JUST THEIR SLAVES. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME IN THE POSTAL SERVICE.

/m1156 For the jobs that are posted on eCareer, they are hiring. They do not give an exam for these jobs. The PM gets approval to hire an RCA, TRC, PMR, TE, or casual. Then they go on eCareer, put in a requisition, it gets posted on eCareer for a couple of weeks, people apply on line, then they have an in-person interview & a selection is made. Most of these I have been involved with lately have only had one applicant, so if the applicant really wants the job, they can have it. But they are all non-career.

After 25 years in trasportation, our company downsized. I felt very lucky to get on as a temp with the post office. I have been there for 2 months, and frankly the management is the rudest I have ever come accross. I have been getting routes down in great time and lend a helping had to our other temps. Last night, I found a partail tray under my empties that one of the other temp drivers gave me. I emediatly called in to tell the terminal that I had found this and was told to deliver it, today I was called in the office and told I suck, in those words. and I have a bad attitude. Knowing full well I work my ass off. and have been a manager for the last 20 years,, know this is not anyway to treat a hardworker. The managers have no respect. Do temps have any rights at all?

just because the post office is accepting applications does not mean they are hiring.

They are hiring, just not career employees: http://www.usps.com/employment/welcome.htm
Jobs for TE's, TRC's, casuals, RCA's, PMR's. And that's pretty much it.

Can I work at a different Post Office if there is no work for me at my station. I am a PTF and work at a small station and I am now only working 1 or 2 days a week, where other stations next to us in a bigger city have plenty of work. I have called the other station and they could use the help.
