To all the town parents: This whole discussion should probably be conducted over at the gossip board but since it started here I will continue here. If anyone feels that Littlestown is worse than any other town they've ever known then all I can say is you must've have lived many different places.
I agree that some kids are cruel nowadays. Some can be mean, rude, overbearing and many other things, but all kids here or anywhere are not this way. If anyone tries to say that Littlestown is so much worse than other places or that we're somehow special in this area you're wrong. This is the way of the world. Just look at the recent events in the world. Even an elected government offical can get away with calling the President a liar practically to his face. The human race is losing it's civility. We have no filter. We say and do whatever comes into our small minds and often w/o consequence for our actions. Our kids see this and think it's okay for them and because of that we're raising what I like to call the "entitled generation".
My kids are mostly grown now. They went to Littlestown schools their entire school career and their father graduated from Littlestown. They were faced with their share of challenges that they/we had to deal with, but they all turned out just fine. This is all part of life. If you try to shelter your kids from the meanness of others they will not learn how to make it in the real world. Life is not fair and mean stuff happens all the time whether it be from those we call our friends, family, enemies or even our government. The best thing you can do for your girls is to teach them how to deal with this stuff when it happens. I guess what I'm saying is we have no control over what other people do to us or our loved ones, but we do have control over how we deal with it and what our perspective is. Teach your kids how to treat others well and how to deal with situations where they are not treated well by others and you'll all live happier lives.
This is just my 2 cents.
