Well, I certainly passed on a bogus rumor that maybe April an early announcement for carriers might happen. If August 5 day would have happened, then there could have been a four month notice in April for carriers. RIKSNY - hilarious. Edited 05-23-2013 08:10 AM

Last october early in month clerk window to leave with cash was thru jan 31st 2013. it was a four month window. If this is to happen again it would have to be announced very early june 2013 to have us off the rolls by end sept 2013 ( fiscal yr end ) or announced early oct 2013 with same four month window as last year. If neither happens i think those of us who can leave will do just that. Pray we catch a bone, we all earned it

Once they go to five day delivery I heard there was a private company that wants to overturn the monopoly of the mailboxes and deliver the mail on Saturdays. I think that is where they are headed. Edited 05-22-2013 07:46 PM

46465- not sure about everywhere else but regulars are not allowed to work days off since the cca's have come on board, but you are right, there is still a shortage of carriers, so why would they invite carriers to leave.

I don't believe it will sink like a rock like you say. Hopin, you would not believe the increase in parcels since you left in 09. Some days overwhelming. Delivering junk on saturdays, in my opinion means nothing to the future of the USPS.

smartcarrier- I agree that 6 day is no longer necessary for dleivery. But once that is done the USPS will sink like a rock. What customer will pay more for less. would you?

Hopin, our leadership fought tooth and nail to save six day delivery when it is no longer necessary and inevitable will happen. During this time carriers are being worked into the ground. Some like the overtime others are being hurt physically because of the shortage of carriers. This is why I totally blame the NALC for the shortage and no EO with $$'s. You are right about the shortage and also that the USPS hates all of their employees.

monkeyman- they do not like any craft. The fact remains that the OT is the only way the mail can be delivered now. How could it be done if there were 35K less carriers?

Our leadership can not demand a VERA. They are given to downsize numbers. If the numbers do not need downsized then how can one be offered. Not opinion but fact! Read the regulations that govern VERAs
