Evaluating, re-evaluating, whatever the case they are realizing that they did not get anywhere near the numbers they needed and they will have to offer incentives if they want to get near the 500,000 mark which seems to be their magic number.

To close the multi-billion dollar deficit, the Postal Service has asked Congress for flexibility to go from a six-day delivery schedule to five days per week, and is evaluating early retirement packages and work-hour reductions. Officials have implemented freezes on hiring and executive salaries and have cut travel expenses.---------It says EVALUATING, not re-evaluating.

Potter said he wants to "reevaluate the E.O. package". What does that tell you.

So, how many Early Outs have there been for the clerks?
Two? When did the 2nd one end?
Are we in the middle of one now?
I was ignoring all this but they are finally getting me to consider it.

Thank you,

nuhusker, Thank you for keeping the dream of an incentive alive and well. If it were not for you hopefulls hanging in there, all our retirements could not be funded. Bless all of you who could retire, but continue to work and fund the systems. Happy 4th of July to all!

postalmag and postalreporter both had the numbers of change in employees from June 30, 2008 to June 30, 2009. These numbers indicate only about 33,000 have retired in the past year and the po wanted to get to the 500,000 and we are still at 630,000+, can you say RIF's or incentives.

They didn't get anywhere near the numbers they were looking for, they are now very desperate and the incentives will be coming very soon.
