egark: Someone should tell NALC cause PO sick conversion is better than OPM; 2080 for a year, 173 for a month etc.

/m36330 Up to 1 year of LWOP, PO pays both your cost and theirs for health and life insurance, and gives you the bill when you come back. Over a year, they keep up your coverage but bill you quarterly for your end. More than 6 months LWOP and you get no retirement credit for that year.

I am taking MRA + 10 after 15 years. The annuity stinks, but I am doing it anyway. I do have some A/L. S/L in Fers will not count so I need to try to use some of it

I believe if one is in a LWOP for over a year, they cut a form 50 and your out the door. Health benefits in a LWOP status; the PO pays their share and bills you your share. That statement is true. But over a year, no way.

54- Went great. Told the supe NO pivots today. Took my time all day and got back 1/2 hour early. Sat and ate cake with the supe. Thanx Richie! X-stew- the reason there is a difference in the SL charts is because in 1981 (I think)Reagan changed the SL from 2080 to 2087 for a year. But the PO was exempted. It is indeed 2080 hours for a year for Postal people.

Thought I'd stop by to wish all the new retirees all the best. I've been out since 2/28 and have not looked back. Those freinds that are still working and keep in touch just reinforce my decision. I feel so bad for those that aren't eligable. Life is good. Busy doing all the stuff I used to have to pay others to do. And spending the rest of the time with the kids and grandkids. dhacker, glad to hear your last day went good. Congrats to you. YOU'RE FREE.

/m36333: You misunderstood my post, the part time job is AFTER retirement... my new life!! By the way, had 5 ft. total volume today to quote that famous philosopher; "Like sand through the hour glass..."

10 months and change until I am eligible for a full retirement @ 55. I expect there will be more EOs to come, certainly in January. And that will be the year I turn 55, so I can walk. I may have only 6 months to go. Small penalty for age... nothing to fret over. Then I can hang tight until I actually turn 55... I'll be separated from service and have the MRA, draw out my $$$ from the TSP and party hardy. Bills all paid, annual leave to sell back, some money in the bank.
Of course, I could hang around till I max out (42 years, 2 months) or until they offer the buyout.
Hmmm... Maybe I should stick around. Any opinions?
Nevermind. I know what you ALL are going to say.
But I could go another 25 years I guess. That would only put me at 79 years of age. After that... HEAVEN ON EARTH!... Or maybe heaven in heaven. Or maybe Hell. Maybe before that, I suppose. But since I plan to live to 120 years of age, staying on board might be the Smart thing to do.
Could somebody pass me another beer and those cigarettes? I need to calm my nerves.

At 325 pounds, I 'm just a little overweight... But not bad for my height (5'4"). And my blood pressure is under control (240 / 190). I'm a CLERK, obviously. But with vital stats like that, I figure I could last well beyond centenarian. Why leave now?

about leaving the PO but you can easily go swimming. Knocks the pounds off and will reduce your blood pressure.

You make it sound as if 240 / 190 is a BAD thing.

My doctor told me I'm not in poor health... I'm moribund.
Is that bad?
