Guy at our office finally gave up waiting for the Early out and told a few of us that today
was his last day. The wheels are coming off if they don't hire a few more CCA's. Another guy
is leaving the end of June and we are an old office that keeps breaking down. Stay tuned..

Well that thinking flies in the face of hwat just happened. They just gave a VSIP to Clerks! Where did that money come from? And VERAs require NO money.

The thinking is that PO is so broke now that there's no cash for incentives. Unless congress passes that reform bill that fixes overpayments, and which earmarks a bunch for EO's, it won't happen anytime soon.

boss. I have been watching from the sidelines for about a year now but seldom post.I find your posts informative, amusing, and usually dead on. You remind me of a guy who retired about 10 years ago. great carrier, loved by co workers and customers but refused to let the brass push him around. He carried a note pad and a copy of our local on him. He backed his arguments with facts and kept a level head most of the time. We miss the old timers for there ability to keep up morale. I am a carrier with over 24 years and have witnessed some of the things you speak of.I would love to take advantage of any early out (that may or may not be offered) just to clear my mind and body of the insanity. A few of the young guns now call me an old timer.funny how that works. hey_ if you ever write a book about your postal days I would buy a copy and I'm sure many other here would as well.thanks for all the great posts.

OH yes - the "VAN POOL". Another Knee-Slapper. The van breaks down, and all 5 Carriers are out past 8:00 p.m. in the snow, waiting for a mechanic to show up (on a Saturday). Another time, the Driver of the van (a Management KissAss, who was trying hard to make it work) ran a red light, wrecked the van and got hurt. 2 more Carriers sent out as Emergency, to re-distribute the mail to the other Carriers (who had nowhere to put half of it). 6 guys out there, till 7:00 p.m.
We had it all: The Las Vegas Plan, MIPSOP, the Kokomo Plan, Routers, Van Pools, Segmenting, Linear Casing ("bundle system"), DEMOTORIZATION (my favorite), and so much more. Never once, did the Post Office EVER save a dime. The outcome was ALWAYS: An EXTRA $2.5 MILLION BUCKS spent over the past 2 years, before each program would be terminated. Typical time for each "Program" to run its course: 2 years. As the coming of each new one was announced, I would ask my favorite question: "Is this a System, or a Program?"....

Boss you are right, someone at a desk who has never carried mail has to come up with new and innovating ideas to justify their job. Does anyone remember van pooling? 5 routes in one van to save gas money. All it did was create daily overtime on 5 routes every day. Spend a dollar to save a nickle - that's the postal way !!!!!!

Oldie, I don't know who came up with that rule, and after the route inspections are over, I will find out. Our postmaster is MIA and cleared out his desk, so I don't think he came up with that gas rule. Or maybe he did, and then took off. Supposedly, no gassing up on Mondays will lessen OT on Mondays. Why not ALSO MANAGE THE VOLUME a little better? Also, Fridays they usually try to give carrier's eight hour days (when possible). Hey, have the CCAs gas us up and dig our vehicles out of the snow at $15.00 per hour. Mid 80s here tomorrow, no more snow, just rain and hail now for a few months. Edited 05-16-2013 07:39 AM
