46465- not sure about everywhere else but regulars are not allowed to work days off since the cca's have come on board, but you are right, there is still a shortage of carriers, so why would they invite carriers to leave.

I don't believe it will sink like a rock like you say. Hopin, you would not believe the increase in parcels since you left in 09. Some days overwhelming. Delivering junk on saturdays, in my opinion means nothing to the future of the USPS.

smartcarrier- I agree that 6 day is no longer necessary for dleivery. But once that is done the USPS will sink like a rock. What customer will pay more for less. would you?

Hopin, our leadership fought tooth and nail to save six day delivery when it is no longer necessary and inevitable will happen. During this time carriers are being worked into the ground. Some like the overtime others are being hurt physically because of the shortage of carriers. This is why I totally blame the NALC for the shortage and no EO with $$'s. You are right about the shortage and also that the USPS hates all of their employees.

monkeyman- they do not like any craft. The fact remains that the OT is the only way the mail can be delivered now. How could it be done if there were 35K less carriers?

Our leadership can not demand a VERA. They are given to downsize numbers. If the numbers do not need downsized then how can one be offered. Not opinion but fact! Read the regulations that govern VERAs

hopin and smart you both make great points, but i believe their is another underlying point here and that is management really does not like the nalc, and i think it would kill them to offer anything to its members.

RIK gets the PRIZE!!! And that is the very reason there have been NO CARRIER $$ EO's. There are not enough carriers right now. Why would they offer to get rid of more? Edited 05-22-2013 10:36 AM

We are all employees of the USPS and in it together and that is the commonality that I see. Don't care if you agree with that or not HOPIN.

Same reason we still have supervisors and postmasters that harass and treat us with zero respect on a daily basis, we have no representation at district and local level that really means anything. Write a grievance and it takes forever to get resolved. Bad treatment of employees has went on forever in the USPS and we get no help stopping it. Don't care if anyone likes it but the NALC representation sucks and obviously it will never get any better.

smartcarrier- EO with $$ offered to ALL other crafts and postmasters. Do you see a commonality that the other crafts and PMs have that is not in common with the NALC? If you don't, then you are not really all that "smart".
