Kamal Mansour of Agfa Monotype is working on Arabic-script varieties for the Technical Committee of the Unicode Standard. The .pdf file with extended Arabic characters is posted for comment at http://www.bisharat.net/A12N/Afro-Arabic_Symbols.pdf (with thanks to Nikolai Dobronravine, who writes: "It would be interesting to know what the Ajami users in Niger and elsewhere would think of the shape of the signs.
