We received our copy yesterday and my 5-year-old loves it! He read the "robot food" chapter while waiting for his dad to pick out stuff at the auto parts store. Then he wanted me to read him the part about polymers for bedtime. Now we are talking about atoms. a lot. Thank you! What a great approach to science.

You have corrupted me my friend! Saw the book for sale in Denver Discovery Channel Store. Took out small plastic continer w/snap on lid filled with small amount of baking soda and wad of toilet paper, added vinegar, quickly repalced lid, caused tiny fizzy explosion, yelled "I know the Mad Professor!" ran out of store

A hero is someone who gives his, or her own life for another's benefit. Such as throwing oneself atop a handgrenade to save the life of another. Or, such as those who rushed into the Twin Towers to render aid to those in need, knowing that they were most likely sacrificing their lives for the good of others. But the Shuttle Columbia astronauts?, no way they were hero's. They were volunteers. They knew the risks. They didn't intentionally sacrifice themselves for the benefit of others. They were astronauts because of the money and the adventure, not sacrifice. True they are unfortunate victims of NASA safety practices, but that doesn't make them hero's.

When you mix iodine and ammonia and some other stuff you have a very unhappy compound. called nitrogen triodine, very reactive when dry/damp
