I've been reading through these entries all morning -- I love this stuff -- but one thing has become very clear: It's hard as hell to improve on a real, live, state-of-the-art dog. Given a choice between most of these postindustrial biodogs and a collie puppy, there's no question of which one I'd pick. Still, great reading. Congrats to everyone who gave it a shot.

I think dog state-of-the-art could be improved a bit:

* Smart enough to be toilet trained.

* Stronger hearts, so the big ones don't keel over at age seven.

* Gene for coprophagy removed.
