CHESS CLUB KICKOFF
At this point it is still iffy if the community center will be opened by
Saturday. Therefore, the meeting room at the Northside Gym (next to
the Hargraves Community Center) at 216 North Roberson Street will be used for the Nov. 17th date. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Join us Saturday, November 17th as we kick off the bi-monthly chess club
for beginners and advance players.
Whether you are an enthusiastic beginner or a pretty good player, bring
your board and join us. The club is also open to family members and friends.

Held the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month:
Nov 17
Dec 1 & 15
Jan 5 & 19
Feb 2 & 16
Mar 1 & 15
April 5 & 19
...and beyond

3:00-5:00 p.m.
Ages 12 - adult

So it looks like having it on Sundays is not going to happen? Too bad, there are a lot of conflicts with chess tournaments, sports, etc on Saturdays.

Due to re-opening delays of the Community Center on Estes Drive, this Saturday's Chapel Hill Community Center chess club will once again be at the meeting room at the Northside Gym next to the Hargraves Community Center at 216 North Roberson Street from 3-5. The club is open to all, and especially welcoming to those with disabilities. See below.

Please join us, this Saturday, December 2, 2007 for another meeting of
the chess club. This event is free and open to the public. It will again
take place at the Northside Gym (next to Hargraves Community Center)
from 3:00-5:00 pm. The November 17th meeting contained both beginning

Hello chess fans!
We had a good turnout on short notice today!

The Orange County Chapel Hill Chess Club meets every Sunday afternoon from 2-5pm at the Hargrave Community Center 216 North Roberson Street, Chapel Hill. We're located in the North Side Gym Building. (the entrance is on the left side of the building past the outdoor basketball court)
No Cost to join. Bring sets and clocks.
No meeting next Sunday, as the building will be closed due to Mother's Day.

Speed Tournament May 19th.

The club is "officially" no longer, although I think the rec center will still keep the room available for anyone that wants to play.

Saturday, Check in at noon Round 1 begins at 1:00 or before;
$5 Registrationfee
4 Round Robin G/15; $20 1st Place, $10 2nd Place;
Unrated but competition appropriate to level of skill,
All adults welcome whether beginner or experienced;

Just a reminder about the 2009 State Scholastic March 6-8 in Charlotte. This is normally the largest chess tournament in N.C. every year - almost 500 players. Plenty of team trophies, too!
