I prefer the Midol without caffeine, and with muscle relaxants added. Caffeine makes me all jittery when I'm flowing heavy, and then I get a little out of control. Sometimes I bite people and then smear my menstrual blood in the cuts. It's hard to get them to stand still for that, though, while I'm trying to wedge thier bitten part between my legs usually they are screaming about some crazy bitch behind me. That crazy bitch must follow me everywhere.

I must re-itterate that Brittney does indeed adore men. But then again, there is a very distinct line between men and those that bitch about menstrual cycles.

There's a bar (I forget where) that serves their Bloody Marys not with a celery stalk, but a peice of string cheese.

Just thought you'd all dig that.

Too quick to judge all men in an unfavorable light?

I think not. Anyone who knows me knows I absolutely adore men. I was commenting about only those particularly immature guys who when overhearing women discuss their periods, cover their ears and go "Ugh! Shut up, take it somewhere else.," yet find it perfectly acceptable to talk loudly about their bowel movements. I am sure this doesn't apply to you or any of the other gentleman who comment here.

In a pinch for a hangover cure, I took some Midol once when I used to work at a pizza joint. It worked fine. I just see it as being marketed to women as just that, a marketing tool.

And guys are way too squeamish when dealing with that sort of thing. Having an older sister, it was never a big deal to me.

From the busboy's comment I would interpret that he was concerned about your feelings (embarrassment?) about the comment and was not expressing any general disdain for menstruation in general.

Maybe you are being too defensive?

Perhaps you are too quick to judge all men in an unfavorable light?

I have no idea why so many men are frightened by a very normal part of female physiology and why they think that it should be kept some sort of secret. http://dayfornight.net

Hummm, which busboy said that? Mr. Maxim?

Next time a guy says anything similar, a good retort might be...

"What are you? Some kind of completely flaming ho-mo-sexual?"

Real men earn their red wings. Or at least offer to help ease period cramping from the inside out. At the very least, don't whine about tampons being on the list when it's their turn to do the grocery shopping.

Was that too much information? :D

I completely agree that men are way too uptight about the subject, but to address "I can't help but wonder what they are all so scared of", I offer this. Men are programmed by a million years of evolution to be turned off by menstruation. If you're not fertile, which you're obviously not when you have your period, the Ape inside us wants nothing to do with you.

Clearly, there's a cultural aspect to it, and we should have evolved past that. But then, that's asking a lot of a gender that still feels threatened by the color pink.

Instead of being bothered by it, though, you should take advantage of it and turn it around. If a guy is still listening to the Ape inside, which he obviously is if he's got issues with your period, you want nothing do with him.
