Hot tea with dollop of honey and lemon and brandy....goood for sore throat and if you drink more than one, you don't care.

Plus, I've found that if I heat myself up by running or doing some sort of cardio excercise, the cold usually runs its course much faster, even if I have to drag my sorry butt down the street. Plus I sleep much better afterward!

Take care of yourself.

colloidal silver is the key to fight off evil human germs.
throat coat tea helps but i prefer a martini to get through the nite.

I make this tea every time I have a cold or flu or anything just as bad.

Buy some fresh ginger root, a lemon, and some honey or have a good friend do this for you.

Make three slices of ginger and put it into the bottom of a cup -or- put the slices in a garlic press and squeeze the juice out. Then squeeze half or a third of a lemon (whatever your preference) into the cup and add some of the peel, then cover the lemon peel with honey and add boiling water and let sit. It's really good and makes you feel good too. Now rest.
If you are hungry try to eat only soup. There is this soup in the Jewish foods section at some supermarkets called Mrs. Tabatchnik's. It comes in frozen hermetically sealed pouches and they are all very good. Don't eat anything with alot of salt in it (like Top Ramen) because this will make you dehydrated and feel worse.
When making Chicken Noodle Soup add a couple of cloves of garlic while it's cooking. Garlic and ginger do so many good things for the body in some many good ways.
If you have the flu (which is what colds sometimes turn into) don't read books but rather watch good video's (a good friend can go to the video store and get them for you). Reading gives me a headache when I have a cold.

Other than that get lots of sleep and call in sick!

Try some licorice tea. Not only is it tasty, but it will also help your throat. And if you have a Jamba Juice or Zuka Juice or the like near by, they have a concoction called the Cold Buster and it actually does what it says it does! Give it shot! Take care and get better.

Take as many cloves of garlic you can stand (I can take about 5) and mince. Saute in scant oil or butter and add one can of tomato soup (and water if called for). Eat!

This one works for me and is especially good for sore throats or if you lose your voice. It works almost instantly and the cider vinegar helps to kill any evil bacteria.

1 part cider vinegar
2 part hot water
honey to taste
Sprinkle of cayenne pepper

A warning :it is quite smelly and foul tasting :)

My mom always says, a cold lasts two weeks if you don't take any drugs, and 14 days if you, so it's all about keeping as comfortable as possible.

Colloidal silver is poisonous, don't do it. Garlic seems to be really good, and warm soups. I've had limited success with red wine, but martinis sound more promising.

at the very first sign, start taking time-release vitamin C and suck on zinc tablets. it won't keep you from being sick but seems to lessen the symptoms and short the duration slightly.

ok, here's the plan;

1. take lotsa lotsa vitamin C and echinacea, preferably echinacea combined w/ garlic in a pill... there's a brand i use me mum got me from the local co-op where she works but i forget what it's called...
2. SLEEP/lie down like mad, nothin' will make your body but rest.
3. drink hydrating liquids, especially things like grape and orange juice and low or no-caffeine tea (like herbal and green teas)
4. walk around the house in yr pyjamas or the most comfortable clothes you have
5. if it's completely unbearable feeling no matter how much medicine you take and you can't sleep, watch television - the artificial "cure" for every evil in society... when I had an ear infection a few years ago it seriously helped.
6. make sure you have lotsa tissues and cough drops on hand
7. take medicine along with food to prevent stomach aches
8. i forgot to mention ginger - ginger is good for stomach aches incase you get one along w/ yr cold, i tend to get them when i take more than one dose of ibprophen in a day...
9. go see a doctor if it isn't getting better after a while
10. keep the halloween candy to yrself under the conviction "i can't make the kiddies all sick" - (all the more for you later when you're feelin' cool and good again.)

hope this helps.

Unless you look good in blue, beware of colloidal silver solutions:
Rosemary or this one: Stan Jones

A little asian lady once told me when I had a cold to slice up ginger and boil it in water for ever, well for a long time anyway, to make tea. It actually worked quite well.

Hey did anyone mention hot chicken soup? My mom would make me Lipton's Noodle Soup and throw in a handful of rice to give it more body. Plus a little extra salt. Throw some garlic in, too.

I'm looking for some instant-cold relief myself, besides taking my head off and throwing it in the garbage can. Think I'll try the ginger tonics first.

 Hope you are feeling better!

I swear by the ginger tea as well...the boiled version with honey and lemon for taste. However, my mom would also give me basil (Tulsi in India) tea as a remedy for cough & colds.

Here's a few links on how to make it:

http://www.chandigarhweb.com/Rasoi/Recipe.asp?RID=672

I'm sure you can search using keywords "tulsi tea" for numerous other Indian recipes if you like. Or, you could just look up the closest Ayurvedic shop and purchase some natural remedies.

Oh yeah, if you choose to make the tea, do not use an aluminum pot to boil your tea.

I always drink warm lemonade with lots of honey. It can sort of sting with a sore throat, but it makes you feel much better. If you have a stuffy nose, warm plum wine works really well, plus it makes you sleepy.

1.) sleep if you can
2.) eat cough drops all day... just dont forget to brush your teeth so you dont get cavities
3.) i eat honey... and try to avoid eating toast and other food that can really hurt your thought if you start choking. its not pretty.
4.) make smoothies... eat ice cream!
5.) take advantage of your mom... well thats what i do.
