I was hit by a car last December, coming out of a store. The car driver lost control of his car, and it went up over the curb and into my leg. Thankfully it didn't break; I was just very bruised, sore and shocked. A woman who saw it happen sat down with me and stayed with me the whole time I was waiting for the ambulance to come. She was incredibly comforting. Turns out, she's a caretaker by profession. She called me the next day at work to see how I was, and I begged her for her address. I sent her a Christmas card last year, and fully intend to send one every year until the cows come home. A small act of kindness like that isn't small to the recipient at all. And, in a world where so many scary, unexpected things can happen, it's comforting to know you can count on strangers to hold your hand and let you know you're not alone. God bless you!
