One summer, my husband and I drove across country from Berkeley to Princeton in a little over 50 hours. The entire drive was within the speed limit and one the non-driver was always trying to sleep. I had to administer a final and submit my grades on a Wednesday and then get across country by a Saturday for a summer research internship.
What I remember about Iowa is a delightful rest-stop where we slept for three hours in a blanket of fog and surrounded by cornstalks. Unfortunately, I passed through the state during the night and, as such, saw little.
My return trip form NJ to CA was much slower. To our surprise, we stumbled into the bike rally at Sturgis in South Dakota. I love a good road trip!
