*I'll swoon over bands no one's heard of, that perhaps do not exist and smoke lots and lots of cigarettes.*
Dude, *everyone's* heard of Jimmy Eat World.

I guess I'm out of luck with my tank ass. I'll have to be Jerry Garcia for halloween again this year... 8-( 8-)

Jonmc is about my age and I believe went to high school near me, so he may remember this as I do... I seem to remember these sorts of kids back then... they weren't called "emo" but the style was exactly the same. Not quite Black Flag, not quite Van Halen. Almost-punk. Pseudo-Pissed Off. Rebelling, Yet Comfortable and Suburban. Dead Milkmen, REM, Edie Brickell listen' goobersmoochers. Not angry or quick, but sort of mildly upset... kinda.
They really dug the flick "Repo Man", but only because they thought they should.
I hated `em.
Now I think they're all cute and sincere.

Oh, I like some of that stuff. Kind of Like Spitting, the Faint, Death Cab for Cutie, blah, blah, blah. But the clothes, the attitude, the nerdier-than-thou--it's just too much.
Like fraternities/sororities, but worse.

Ya know, I heard Dashboard Cofessional for the first time the other day and I wasn't to fuckin' impressed.
The appeal of listening to emo today(for guys at least) must be the same as listening to James Taylor in 1970, it's a conveinient way to show the chicks what a sensitive fucking soul you are. Whether you have a sensitive soul is pretty much irrelavant.
