As an operating system Windows 200 certainly had its share of flaws. First and foremost, nobody even had a computer when it was first introduced. So the "Windows" were actually that -- large panes of glass on which one would write. But of course 99.9% of the earth's population was illiterate, so only the clergy had any use for it. And then they got in trouble for using it to surf for porn, so it was all a big disaster. Keith's right, leave it off.

You might also want to note that you are proficient in Windows 2000. Proficiency in Windows 200 probably isn't going to get you many offers . . .

Seems the Tennessean story is no longer archived.

*sigh*

Both stories for the Tennessean were published, one of which is available online. I'll link to it. Everything else (besides the NIFF stuff) I have only hard copies of, in my clip book. I could publish the stories online in text-only format, but is that acceptable? I figured they'd want to see only original sources.

As for the HTML skills, the only thing that survived is muh blog. I made simple sites for a friend's band and such, but they are long since defunct. Not sure I even saved any of it. I don't want to link to Misc, Etc. as it really has no place on a resume as a personal site. Besides, everything I created was just okay, I only want them to know I can do it. I never said I was any good.

And thanks for the info about the Career Center, I had no idea.

Seeking copywriting or similar position

Okay, that's a bit vague... Why leave it up to some clueless HR Director to figure out the meaning of "similar position"...? Wanna write feature stories, design print ads, build and edit websites? Say that up front. Otherwise, you might end up copywriting for telemarketers, funeral directors, and similar parasites.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Freelance

The Tennessean

Submitted short feature story and was contacted at a later date to write a second piece based on the strength of the first story.

Even more vague. Was the feature story published? Did you actually write the second piece, or did they simply contact you to write a piece that remained unwritten?

If your Tennessean stuff is still available online, link to it. If not, link to your own copies, even if you have to make .pdf files in a subdirectory of your blog. Same with your Sidelines stuff, and anything else that's made it into print. Someone wanting to hire a writer/journalist/designer/etc will want to see samples of your work, and would prefer clicking a link to waiting for e-mail or snail mail.

The entire NIFF section is much stronger, anyway, and should come before your Freelance section. Link to a copy of the festival program, with your reviews highlighted. (Again, that print sample will be damned impressive, even if you have to crank out your own .pdf's from the source material.)

Maybe split your employment section into "Writing Experience" and "Other Employment"....

HTML skills? Don't make someone go Google on your ass. Provide links to websites you've created, even if you have to link to self-hosted archive copies.

Make sure Martha Turner at the MTSU Career and Employment Center gets a copy of your spiffy new resume! She's in KUC 328, and it's her job to find jobs for alumni.

Made the suggested changes. Good eye, and thank you.

(Ooh, I love picking nits). Three thoughts:

1. The contact formatting is off on my browser. While your name and phone #/email lines appear centered, what I assume to be the address line is offset to the right, and the zip code sits on its own line.

2. Should you go with "graphic design" instead of "graphics design"? I think the former is a term-of-art, but I'm not sure if the phrase "graphics design" has a special meaning in journalism.

3. I'm not sure "correspondences" is the best plural (although it does get past my spell check). I think "correspondence" is probably better.

Other than that, it looks great. Above all else, it made me hungry. Can I get on the call ahead list? (And fire up an Alice Springs Chicken -- I need to put on a few pounds).
