Hey, Cory, I was going to suggest taking a deep breath, but it looks like you just did.

I have to say, when I was reading Xeni's post, I didn't notice how long it was, though I do remember thinking "this sounds interesting, though it doesn't sound like the sort of movie I'd typically watch." If I hadn't wanted to read it, I would have scrolled down to the next item.

Hey, Tim, if the protest reminder is so important, where's _your_ blog about it? Because you read some of the stuff on Boing Boing, they owe you something? Your attention is that valuable?

The film's actually quite good, I saw it about two weeks ago. It's not as well paced as All About My Mother, but quite touching in it's own right, worth a look.

Boy, Tim, you sure read the "How to win friends and influence people who maintain personal sites who do not OWE YOU ONE FUCKING THING" manual closely, huh?

Yeah, too long, and incredibly useless. Meanwhile, my reminder to the Toronto crew of the anti-war protest in TO that went on this Saturday didn't even get cleared. Way-too-long posts about obscure movies are more important than working to prevent millions of needless deaths? Come on.

I said it before when she was guest-posting:

XENI'S POSTS ARE TOO DAMN LONG.

That is one big ass post.

The only Almodover film I've ever seen is Tie me Up, Tie me Down, which wasn't too bad. He does have a rather distinctive shooting style.

Almodovar veers off into outrageously surreal comic
detours--including a silent film within a film in which a
palm-sized shrunken man leaps headfirst into his lover's vagina,
where he lives happily ever after.

Almodovar constantly puts these odd sexual interests in his
films. I haven't seen a lot of other modern Spanish (from
Spain) films. Is this just him, or typical of Spanish film in
general?

I remember going to Pepe, Lucy, Baum (sp?) with an old friend
and a guy I knew who wanted to get to know her. She had
suggested it, but about halfway through the film wanted to
leave the theatre. We made her stay.

Favorite Pedro scene: Women on the Verge. Carmen Maura torches the bed of her ex and then casually flicks her ciggy onto it.
