Yea, Portland mass transit is really not-so-mass transit. In Tokyo normal people take the train or subway (this definition of normal includes drunk people). But in Portland, the car is #1. Train passengers deviate from the norm. They're more likely to be hella-weird -- no offense. Portland trains (I guess we call it 'light rail') are a lot scarier.

I never talk to people on the MAX. It's too dangerous. Last week a MAX rider announced to all of us that she'd been in a seizure earlier that day due to a "spider bite on (her) ass." Make conversation with her and you're the next one bitten!
