We have a moderately selfish request: If at all possible, could the horses come back to the pasture behind our house? We have a lot of family in town. Most live in the city and would LOVE to see the horses. Thank you so much!

Well... Buddy thinks that with four "young strong guys" -- himself and three others -- and me, we could muscle it down the hill. Machines won't work. I would want it to be anchored to a tree at all times; does anyone have static line or a winch I could borrow for this?

And, of course, the big question: are there three more strong people around here who would be willing to help out? I can provide refreshments for both the over and under 21 crowd, and pay something for your time. Maybe Sunday morning, July 5th?

And do let me know if anyone has the static line/winch, because otherwise I'll have to buy them first!

It would really be great to finally get it down there!

Apparently, someone already thought of using a loader -- is that Buddy in there?

My suggestion would be 2-3 slings made of thick webbing (like a tow strap), and about 8 people. Maybe tack some plywood strips to the bottom if you can to protect it.

I would check into ropes and pulleys from "big tree" to "big tree" and kind of leap frog it to that perch on the rock.

Robert...I would strongly recommend BUD HO for such an odd job. That guy can do anything WELL! Good Luck!

why not wait for a good snow and transport on a sled? I have moved very heavy items (old fridge) on a very primitive trail in the woods without too much trouble. the sled I used was a large flat bottom (no rails) with a strong rope at the front.

Dear All,

I have a problem that I am having difficulty figuring out, so I thought I would appeal to the resourcefulness of the Bar-K community and see whether anyone has any idea how I can figure it out.

The problem is that I have a small upright piano that I need to move several hundred yards diagonally down a steep, forested hillside, maybe 100 vertical feet. There is only a primitive trail, which is mostly dirt but crosses over/between several small rock outcrops. The destination is a small studio perched on the hillside.

It's the smallest upright I've ever had, but it is a piano, and therefore weighs several hundred pounds.

Any ideas? Does anyone have experience at moving heavy objects over steep and awkward terrain? Any input (short of "what do you want to do that for???", which, believe it or not, I've heard plenty of already!) would be appreciated! I need to get it done somehow...

Thanks!

Robert Schaller

Lila ran away this morning when she became frightened by the fire crackers . She is a black and white Boarder Collie mix with black patches over her ears and eyes and a large black spot on her back. We live in the middle of Jamestown but she is familiar with all of the trails around this area. It is after dark now and we are very worried about her. If you spot her please call 303-541-9781.
Thank you, Bela, Martine and Emeshe

Hi, I lost my husky near Eldora last week. Komi is black and white with blue eyes. She was last seen wearing her blue harness and collar with many tags. She is 555lbs with a scar on her nose. If you see her please call me at 720-272-5318. THANKS VERY MUCH.
