Every morning around 11:10, we all attend English Class. English class is located in Elis Hall, Room 108. Room 108 is very small. It is so small that I think that the quad that I live in is bigger that it. The atmosphere is very cluttered. The first thing you see are 5 tables pushed together to form a rectangle. All that is left of the room is a walkway all the way around the tables. This setup has its advantages and disadvantages. The advantages are that everyone can see everyone and it makes it easier to have an open discussion about our geography articles. Also, it familiarizes the students with another, whereas if we had twenty desks, I would probably not be able to recognize every face. The disadvantages are that if every person is in attendance, usually one person gets left out of the rectangle, and is forced to sit in a chair alone by themselves in the corner. Also, the room is very dull. It consists of a T.V., V.C.R., projector, 3 sets of curtains, and a couple of lines on the wall. Personally I feel that if the room were more decorated, it would make it for a better learning environment. Therefore, because we are stuck in that room, I think that we should take the advantages and disadvantages into consideration and make the best of the situation as we can and make this the best opportunity as we can make it.

The room we attend every moring around 11:10 is a very small room due to the amount of people in there. It contains 3 windows, 4 over head lights, 6 tables joined together and a TV and a VCR.

As I walk into the room at 11:00 o' clock the smell of the musty air fills my senses. The brown table takes up most of the space. As I sit in my not so comfortable green chair I gaze around the visually unstimulating room. The color of he bland white walls and the beige shades all run together. Besides the dusty chalkboard in the front of the room, the only appealing thing to my eyes are the various colors students are wearing. Overall, this room is extremely plain. I'm extremely happy I only have one class in here per day.

This room, when empty of people, is cold and lifeless. It smells of mysteriously fresh air upon occation, but at other times the room is filled with an indescribablely foul smell. Once class begins the tiny room is filled with energy. The room awakens to the knowledge and character of it's guests. Room 108 begins to warm up and take in the individual smells of it's occupants. At the end of the day the enormous desks of room 108 congrigate to discuss the events of the the day. The room sits eagerly anticipating the arrival of tomorrow's new experiences.

As I sat down in class this morning I was hit in the chest by a sudden feeling of closterphobia. This room is too small, too plain. It is decorated only by vertical parallel lines and off-white curtains on its off-white walls. These walls are coming for me, reaching to crush me as the clock ticks away the remaining seconds of class. I am confused by wanting class to end, for I know that when I leave here I have to go to geography and I would much rather be here. The chalkboard stares dauntingly at me. It talks, but I cannot hear it. The table smells of literature, but I can't smell a damn thing. The TV is getting an attitude with me, calling my name and this I can hear. It screams at me for missing sportscenter two days in a row, shrinking my knowledge ball to an unacceptable size. "What kind of fan are you?!" It yells mercilessly. "I'm in college!" I want to plead back, but I can say nothing for it is quiet in here.

First off this room is ugly. The combination of mother of pearl walls and curtains combined with some kind of off brown floor makes me feel like I'm in a padded cell at the ridges asylum. As you sit in class it's chilly but not so much cold. You can feel that breeze of air on your skin but it doesn't make the chairs and table cold of the walls. As everyone writes their paper you can hear the occasional paper twitch, or a pen click, one of the chairs creek, maybe a slight cough, some little whispering, and even a couple of sniffles. Their isn't much in the air that you can taste except the difference in temperature. Once you take a breath into your lungs you just tell that it's much colder then your 98.6 degree mouth. Every once and a while their is a moment of silence and all you can hear is yourself breathing, maybe if you listen close enough you can hear and feel your own heart beat faintly. On top of that the slow and low pitched hum of the air conditioning is almost enough to put you to sleep.

As with anything in life, your situation is what you make of it. We all know that the room sucks. It's somewhat small and possesses a dull and boring interior. Basically the only reason we maintain our sanity is because we are blessed with a window. But despite our disposition, what we make of our situation is up to us.
Almost everyday twenty students walk into that room and sit down. About five minutes later Christina will walk in the door and the first thing out of her mouth is, "Now I know this room is awful..." We all shake our heads as to signal that we all agree and then we go about our 50 minutes of class.
But it's kind of funny. That even though we "put up" with that room, each day every one of us walks out of that God awful imprisonment and says "I like that class." And it's true. It's not extremely hard. We all get along and laugh. Now, sometimes we laugh with each other, and other times we laugh at each other (specifically Jim's random comments that somehow always end with "Ahh ... Yeah" as well as Lee's in-depth analization of the smallest things) But it's the random comments that make the class enjoyable, and nevertheless all of us enjoy the situation as a whole.
So, instead of elaborating on the dull features of the room and dwelling on the negative, I want to focus on the positive.
It doesnt matter where our classroom is. We could be outside on college green or in the janitor's closet and still enjoy Jim's and Lee's comments. So I say it doesnt matter.
My only complaint is the fact that the table sometimes excludes people because there are not enough chairs. Could we get some more?
Anyway, we're going to have fun throughout this class regardless of where are class is held.
Hope you guys have a fun weekend.
I'd like to thank Jim and Lee for being my examples, and for making the class "interesting."
See you Monday.
Adam

Our room is very bland. The only thing that brightens it up is the occasional glance out the window to reveal the blue sky. The curtains, which appear to be there to dress up the walls do nothing but make it harder to get a site of the trees and sky. The table takes up way too much room and only pushes us closer to the neutral, bland walls. There is a projector and TV in the corner, which only takes up precious space. Even if we were to use these devices, not everyone would be able to see because we are so cramped together. Also, someone always has to sit alone in the corner becuase we ran out of table space. The least we could do is be able to open the windows so the smell is no longer stale, and we could hear something besides the air conditioner.

The room is filled with new students. We all do not know eachother but slowly we are becoming acquainted with one another. When I walk into the room in the morning I feel cold and empty. Maybe it is because the air is on to high or maybe it is because the teacher has not yet arrived. But when she does and the class goes on, things have a sence of place. It feels right. I feel ready to learn and expand my mind. Some of us just sit here and observe the class without saying a word, while othrs talk about the topic we are discussing that day. There is a sence of unity between all of us. It is like we are on a mission, a mission to get through the class together.

The room is very plain. There's no posters or signs on the wall except a broke "no smoking" sign. The room is always freezing cold. There are a few tables in the middle where about two dozen students try to make room around. There are three windows, so alot of sunlight can get in. There's a TV and VCR in the corner, which probably don't get much use.

On the second floor of Ellis Hall awaits the wonderful room 108. It is a quant room; filled with the brightest minds to enter Ohio University. There are twenty plus freshman sitting at a large table made up of smaller tables, what a novel idea, I think to myself. The walls are an off white color, like cigarette smokers teeth. There are three windows, all of which look at other buildings. On the opposite side of the room, there is a plain wall with two lines every four feet or so. The floors are cold and made of linoleum tiles; coincidently my dorm has the same ones. In one of the corners, connected to the ceiling is a TV, I dont know much about the TV, like who has watched it in the pasted or what has been showed on it but I am sure it is a very nice TV. Kitty corner to that TV is a boy. His name is Adam. When he walks into a room everyone stops and looks because he has such a striking presence. When he talks, we all listen, waiting to be blessed by his wealth of knowledge. All in all our room has it pluses and minuses, but hey, its hell of a lot better than my dorm

Our Classroom, like most others, is extremely dull, boring and morbid. The pasty white walls, aged tables, and creaking chairs create a dismal and depressing atmosphere. There is not much of an aroma in the room. It just sort of smells like any old classroom always did. I have not got around to tasting the room yet, but I'll let you know what its like if I ever do. The only spunk in the room is created by the people we share it with. The voices and laughter of our classmates is the only thing that pierces through the dreary aura. However when we dont talk and laugh, the room sucks. So lets keep having fun and working hard!

The size of the room is about 30 ft. x 15 ft. It has three windows with dull colored curtains. The floor is a tile floor that has a tan color to it. In the center there are five tables put together in a rectangular formation. The door is in the southeast corner of the room. The wall to the south is a plain off-white color with two switches and two recepticles. In the center top part, against the ceiling, there is a few pieces of duct tape. On the west wall there is a single window facing Alden Library with a basebaoard heater that runs the length of the wall about 12 inches from the floor. On the north wall there are two windows that face the chapel. Under the windows there is the same baseboard heater that runs the length of the wall. In the northeast corner, next to the ceiling there is a TV and VCR. Under that there is a projector. The east wall is filled up with a blackboard, that has a projecter screen and a broken "No Smoking" sign above it.

This room has three windows, with each window's curtains haveing a dull, tanish color. The walls are very plain with some lines in a very structured for from top to bottom. The walls have an off white color that mixes with the curtains to give the small room a sense of bordem, and just makes you want to go to sleep. The windows that are planted on the two back walls give the room just enough light to keep you from falling asleep. The room always has a chill to it when u walk in that gives you a tingle right as you walk in the doorway. The floor of the room is put together tiles, some just a bit darker then the others. In no particular order, i guess the builders must have run out of one color and looked for anything to get it finished. As you look with more detail, you see the little imperfections throughout the ceiling and you notice the electrical plugs that are scatered all over each wall. There is some duckt tape in the corner and a small hole a a little larger then the other slits in the corner. Pretty much its a little, dull, imperfect room, and I am glad not to be in there now. Have a good weekend everyone

The first thing I think of when I walk into this room is how everyone turns around and looks at me, then I think I'm late. But, I kind of like the set-up of the tables and chairs because it creates a more intimate feel in the class by allowing us to see everyone while they speak. Even though the room has a kind of closed-in feeling to it, because of the blank walls, at least there are windows to look out of and let light in no matter where you are sitting. I can see that the room is too small but at the front of the tables to ever use the overhead for any note taking or lecture purposes... if we ever do that. The cracked "No Smoking" sign is pointless because we laready know not to do that in class. The muted silver duct tape on the ceiling / wall makes me wonder what the hell its there for, and it makes the room even more ugly. We also need posters and pictures on the wall, then it would look better

Off-white paint covers the walls that make this room. Windows give us a view of the people walking outside and the trees moving in the wind. Many small ceiling tiles cover the ceiling top from view. The lights give off a yellowish hue that fills the room. The brown tables fill the center of the room with hard green chairs sitting all around the tables. The air inside this room is cool with a feeling that fall is on its way. The chalk board is green and only covers the one wall. The drapes that cover the windows are a creamy color and flow down to the window-sill. I hope that everyone has a nice weekend!
