I would tend toward Little Gods and Other Visitations, because it's both a cool title and references maybe your most recognized story (though I could be wrong about that last). "Little Gods" was nominated for the Nebula, and people might remember that better. And it's coming out in hardcover too? Excellent! I didn't even know Prime did hardcover titles (or is yours the first?) And great news about Ms. Roessner. Was she a Clarion teacher of yours? Or was she so astounded by your talent that she had to write your intro?
I'm really excited to see this happen for you, man. I mean, jeez, you're the reason I buy Realms of Fantasy anymore.

Not sure if your poems will be part of it, but they seem to be part of a Beastiary... might be one spark for a book title?
Congrats above all! Very cool.

Prime has done hardcovers in the past -- for Jeff VanderMeer's book, and for Paul di Filippo's, probably for others as well (good company, though!).
Michaela was one of my Clarion teachers. She was also at Rio Hondo. After Heather called to tell me about the book-havingness, I turned to Michaela and said "Hey, I'm going to have a collection! I need someone to write the introduction!" She said "Do you want me to write it?" I said "Yeah!" And there you go.
There might conceivably be a poem or three in the collection; I'm not sure yet. The Bestiary poems will likely have a chapbook of their own in a couple of years, though, when there are more of them.

Tim, I expect you'll mention this at sometime in the future, but I'm wondering how many stories/poems/whatnot will be in the book and, naturally, which ones. 'Cuz, let's face it, your biblio is a bit longish.

Oh, probably 14 or 15 or 16 stories, maybe three or four poems (or none -- I'm still debating that point). We're aiming for a word length between 60 and 80 thousand words. A table of contents is gradually coalescing out of the mist. I'll post it when I get it figured out.

Damn, boy! I knew you were going places, but I seriously underestimated the *speed*. Congratulations!
As for stories, I do hope Captain Fantasy and the Secret Masters find its way in there - it's bloody brilliant. And I think "Captain Fantasy" would make a good collection title too -- it describes you well. ;) (Or at least it makes a good pet name, though not as good as Timberry.)
I'm rambling. I'm too happy for coherence. Yay!

Oh, yes -- "Captain Fantasy" will be in there. Also "The Witch's Bicycle" and "Fable from a Cage" -- the three of those make up nearly 30,000 words! And "Annabelle's Alphabet" and "Little Gods" will be included, of course, and my unpublished novelette "Pale Dog". Some of the choices are easy. The tricky part is choosing among the less-obvious ones, looking for a good mix. It's fun, though.

Greg needs to copyright that "flaming hamsters" idea. It could make him millions!
Looking forward to the final ToC of your collection! I'd like to suggest your first STRANGE HORIZONS story, about Mardi Gras and the Fallen. And all your superhero stories, 'course!

Not just Greg stories, but at some later date all the assorted collaborations should be gathered into the collection titled "Flaming Hamsters".
And I'm a big fan of the superhero stories, so I vote for their inclusion in the current collection. Unless, of course, Tim would like to collect the superhero stories by themselves. You know, in support of the superhero novel(!) that I hope will eventually hit the shelves.

I like the idea of a collab collection called Flaming Hamsters. Taking notes, Greg?
"Fallen and the Muse of the Street" (the story to which Mike refers) will be in the collection. I have a surprising amount of downbeat stuff, and that story's actually kind of upbeat by the end, so I need it.
As for superhero stuff... I'll definitely include "Captain Fantasy", because it's one of my best. Not so sure about "Dr. Nefarious". And, yes, there's probably a Mr. Li novel in the pipeline somewhere, for you superhero fans...

(scritch-scratch) Flaming Hamsters (scritch-scritch) collab collection (scratch-scritch) millions of dollars (scatch-scratch). Got it.
I like "Little Gods" as a title, though some might confuse it with Terry Pratchett's "Small Gods".

Yes, or that novel The God of Small Things.
Then again, I could do worse than being confused with Terry Pratchett. Hell, in some bookstores, I'd be next to him...
