AMIN and MERIP are interesting sources of pro-Arab and pro-Palestinian op-eds. AMIN is a sort of Common Dreams for the region; MERIP issues detailed "press information notes".

Why don't we see English-language versions of these newspapers? It's unbelievable how the nihilistic left will attack their ONLY source of information in this domain - questioning is fine and good, but they are only applying themselves to the question of Memri. What about what's actually being printed in these newspapers? Brian Whitaker might as well say what he really wants to say. As for MEMRI: So what if it's run by a "former Israeli military intelligence official who served as counter-terrorism adviser to two Israeli prime ministers". That's COUNTER-TERRORISM. I am interested in what "the other side" has to say about this. I am interested in what COUNTER-TERRORISM experts have to say. I worked on the 97th floor of the North Tower 1 year ago and am lucky to be alive. It's quite possible that if people paid more attention to the press of the Arab world back then I might have a few hundred more coworkers than I have now.

Are there *any* genuinely objective observers of the Israeli-Palestininian conflict? Everybody in that mess has conflicts of interest.

But as even the Guardian article noted, "Nobody, so far as I know, disputes the general accuracy of Memri's translations but there are other reasons to be concerned about its output."

I've seen a lot of whining from people like this about MEMRI being selective, etc. Fine, so why doesn't some pro-Arab group start translating all of these wonderful peace-loving stories that apparently fill Arab media?

Note in turn that the guy who did the expose of MEMRI in The Guardian failed to disclose his own interest -- as editor of an Arab cultural portal website.

That's why my motto has been "Beware their propaganda" for
years now. Well meaning or not, propaganda surrounds us.
