Rural01, WHAT IS A CUT OFF DATE? The why to get a day off, is turn in 3971. Make copy and have it sign showing you turn in. It is managements job to approve or disapprove. If disapprove they should give you a copy back stating disapprove. the only reason 3971 should be disapprove is if no sub available .If not given back in three days take it as approve. If any problem grieve it you will win
Are you are talking about a schedule that management put up on Tuesday or Wednesday and you have to turn 3971 before the Schedule goes up? Were in the contract does it say this? The contract say if sub is available, not what day you turn 3971 in. The reason I know his I been through the same thing.when the P.m. found out I was working on Grievance she back off. Now as a Reg. carrier I turn in the 3971 when I decide to not before the schedule goes up. I call Friday and told the 204 b I would like Saturday Off, he look and had a sub available so I got off.

yeah I have had that problem with them conveniently not finding 3971s and I do get the supervisor to sign it immediately and make a copy. But this time the PM didnt give me it back with a DENIED written on it. So I thought "well, I must have been approved." I checked the schedule before I left Friday (now they are telling me that the one for last week was still up) and saw a subs name written in on my spot. I thought I was good to go to my DR appt. Now she's charging me with AWOL, which I will grieve immediately.

Rural01, I had the same problem a few years ago regarding 3971. In the future, you need to make a copy or fill 2 of them out, get a supervisor to sign one of them that they received it, so you have prove that it was turned in. There are three signature on the 3971 for management to sign. 1 is that they received it, one is for approved/disapprove, and the last one is when they enter it into eRMS.

Just me, I have the other problem. I have a PM that seems to forget everything. I turned in a 3971 for today on Wed. last week. First, I got flack because "the week b4 a holiday, the 3971 cutoff date is moved up to Tues and not Weds." (first I heard of that). And then I never got my 3971 back denying that I had today off. Then I checked the schedule b4 I left Friday and I thought I saw someone written in on my rt for today. I get the call this morning I am supposed to be there! WTF?

Thank you supersub, regular carrier was injured, broken rib and punctured lung. According to the carrier she went straight home. I agree she will PAY FOR IT!

I guess I should add...it really dont matter either..YOU are still going to pay for it...lmao!!!

We had a sub report hitting a deer on the way to work...she ended up doing tons of paperwork...and still it went on her insurance..I reckon the only thing that this really applies to is if you are injured.

Does anyone know if carriers are covered driving to and from work? or are we just covered while on the actual route. A carrier in our office was in an accident after leaving work to go home.

Just Me, Do you have an alarm clock, maybe set it for the same time you would get up normally for work each morning and make it a habit to go over your notes, sit down and make your notes each day for the next day.
I know when I am going to work on Saturday, on Friday I make sure I have my vehicle in good running order, get clothes and a lunch ready for the next day. Maybe on Friday treat your self to a bubble bath or something special in anticipation. I hope you don't forget where the customers live.

just me....seriously...you cant remember things....my best piece of advice for you is to write things down that are important the night before you go to bed so you dont forget. I wonder how you are able to remember your mailcase every day and the streets/customers on your route and in your case. Is this problem a hinderance in your performance of your job duties? If you write down stuff or even tape record stuff(as long as you dont bring the tape recorder in the office and do it when you leave work) maybe you will remember things better.

I have a problem, I have been going to the dr. for the last 4 months and my dr. tells me that I forget things. Well, I forgot to go to work this past saturday. My supervisor gave me a letter stating a failure to report to work. I don't know what to do. I did go to my dr. to see if she can make me a letter concerning my health. I still don't know if she can help me but if she makes me that letter will this affect my job? I am taking the medications everyday and trying to better myself. So let me know what i should do. Thanks...

Just Bob, Keep us posted if the other 3 quit or just what does end up happening. The POOM will probably be rewarded while those under him have to pay for their sins! Bet the PM who resigned will be the only one who does. The others will probably get away with it. Interesting to me that the OIG even went out of their way to check this fraud out! Always seems like they concentrate most of their efforts on us peons!

Its all about the $. They are doing this all over the place. We had only small K routes and they took the Aux and we think they figure to get it all back from them in Feb when they count us. Why pay bennies to another carrier is their logic.
