What is this? You are injured and we find out only from ZDV. Then your daughter needs surgery and we only here about it at the last moment. You've got to keep us informed, Mark. I hope everything goes well.

So sorry about Auntie, Marcy, even though I know this has been coming for a long time.

Once again, nothing much is going on here. Glad to have the elections over, just so we won't have to see the ads anymore. It seems like maybe H1N1 has arrived at work. Lots of people out with flu like symptoms today.

Daughter had surgery yesterday. Getting ready to head back up to the hospital. She should be released tomorrow if all goes as planned. Need to get some breakfast and a shower.

Just talked to Marcy. Aunt Glenna was moved back to the nursing home into hospice care. She did suffer a stroke in the hospital as they were transporting her from emergency to a room. It appears that she had an earlier stroke a couple of weeks ago. They are making her comfortable with pain medication. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers for Marcy and her Aunt G as she moves forward in her journey.

Another shot of Gus at work. He owns this machine, which will have cost him $225,000 when it's paid off.

This was one tall tree. Notice he's about three times higher than the basketball goal. And you can see the roof of the house next to us (left side of picture).

Lorraine, your "paper is just paper" reminded me of the Steve Goodman song:

"The day you're born, they sign a piece of paper
To certify the date of your birth.
The day you die, they go and sign another
Just to prove you've gone back to the earth."

And the rest of the song is about what happens between those two pieces of paper.

Softball - yes, still have three rained-out rainouts to make up. And Karen had a good layer of frost on her windshield this morning, so we could well be playing in snow. At least the balls are fluorescent yellow, so we can see them in a blizzard.

I got a nice email yesterday from a BDHSer I didn't know. He had seen the article about me in Lost Treasure magazine, and I'm wearing a Ben Davis shirt in the picture they printed.

We finally had the tree removed from our side yard. It was in danger of dropping huge limbs on the house - it already destroyed our neighbor's fence with a dropped limb.

It's a relief to have it gone, but it cost $2,100. (The other estimate we got was $3,000 plus $300 rental for the necessary lift).

I'll post a photo or two. Here goes....

Jean, I know paper is just paper, but sometimes that paper can mean a life for someone. I will pray to that end. It takes special people to adopt children and it sounds like your family is "special people". That little girl is not only getting a family, she's getting a super family.
Sandra, the wonders of technology! Glad you are there safe and hope you have a good time. When do you move on to FL? You probably said, but I've been so crunched at work I've not had time to read much. Just taking a break now to try and get my eyes refocused.
Calgon, take me away!

And that's why you earn the big bucks, Ben. To think, just pick up a phone! Thanks for doing it.

Sandra, how are you posting from the car? Laptop or phone?

I just talked to Bob W on the phone. He's doing just fine. Has been fighting a cold this week. He has a different computer now & will be getting back on line shortly. Spends a lot of time with Diane. That's the up-date. Mr. T
