Wow!!! I love the short hair! Makes her look very sophisticated, and she can do so many different things with it short. I never believed it before, but you really can. Flip up, flip under, part it differently. Yeah, I think she'll like it after getting used to it.
That is such a great organization. Last year, we had 17 girls and boys from our school donate hair to them. | | |

Lew, it has been most pleasant here today as well. Just now beginning to sprinkle.
Will watch Nashville fireworks tonight on TV, if it isn't rained out. I think I watched Indy's on-line last year.
Amanda went to the National Corvette Museum last night for fireworks and she said it was "Super". Kids of all ages!!!

Jean, you are so right. It is amazing how many BD groups continue to invite her to their reunions (from the early years of my dad teaching and coaching there). Anyway, she remembers so many they often come to her table to ask her a question they can't come up with the answer to.
I, on the other hand, do not have that terrific memory. My dad had it for student's names also. Guess the memory bank ran out when they came to child number 3!

Nancy, I think your mother knows the names of everyone in Wayne Township also!!! If I mention a name to her, she says "Oh, was their brother's name such and such, or their parents or did they live at... What a memory she has.

Dan, if you remember Alan Williams from the class of 64 -
He has written a lengthy article for the Indiana High School Hall of Fame. It has been published in their magazine and is a full history of basketball in Montgomery County. I bet your parents would enjoy reading it. Alan put a lot of pictures into the story and did a great deal of research on it. He even has talked to many current basketball greats as an after affect of this article, such as Del Harris.
MY mom has given him names to go with many of the pictures. I bet your parents could also! It is very interesting to read what he has done.
The fitness center I go to is made from the original Crawfordsville gym which was in use until 1993. The halls are lined with old basketball pictures.

Nancy, my father graduated from Covington HS but he lived in Darlington until high school, and Crawfordsville afterwards. My mother graduated from Battleground HS and later lived in Mechanicsburg (halfway between Lebanon and Frankfort). They live in Lafayette now.
Wingate had just 12 male students and no gym in 1913. The basketball team practiced outdoors, and once a week the coach took them via horse-drawn wagon to New Richmond to practice in their gym. And the team didn't have uniforms - they wore sweatshirts and baseball pants. Their opponents laughed at them when they came out on the court.
But one of their players was Homer Stonebreaker 6'4", Indiana's first basketball superstar. He took Wingate to the state basketball championship in 1913 and 1914. In the 1913 title game, Wingate beat South Bend 15-14 in five overtimes - still a record. And in 1914, Stonebreaker scored all 17 points in their state championship victory over Clinton. My father still speaks of Homer Stonebreaker.
