I was just a kid--maybe 11 or 12--when I first saw Gloria. At the time, I couldn't explain why I liked it so much. Up until then it was easy: "There's this great part where the Bandit jumps a river to get away from Smokey" or "Then the Imperial Star Cruiser shows up". Gloria is just a story about an old(er) woman and a young boy.

The thing was, I had never *cared* about characters before. I had rooted for them, or I had felt bad for them. But really caring is something different. It's...better.

See that one.
