window wonder, after paying APWU dues for 34 years they sent me a pin. If you have VERY STRONG magnifying glass you might be able to see it says APWU Retiree. At least the union got me nice raises over the years.
The USPS gave me a pin and a clock that doesn't work, and a picture of a stamp w/a letter saying happy retirement. 40 yrs civil service {6 yrs military} pin and a check for $500.00 for my 40 years. I think they were trying to give me a heart attack with the $500.

Besides receiving a certificate stating how many years you have been in the postal service; you will receive nothing. Oh wait, you may receive a surplus USPS plastic mug and/or a USPS inkpen.

As far as I know it always depended on whether they like you or not. Some people they bend over backwards for when the person is retiring, others, NOTHING. Always thought that was a really crappy way to treat people.

Does the Postal Service have any guidelines about appropriate Retirement Ceremonies?

Sorry, the Prez didn't say anything that isn't true. Sometimes we are just a little too paranoid.

We are in a downward spiral getting ready for us to all loose our jobs. With the President making comments like he did in New Hampshire comparing the Postal Service with Fedex and UPS maybe he needs to educate our President in what the Postal Service does everyday.
