Sorry, the Prez didn't say anything that isn't true. Sometimes we are just a little too paranoid.

Does the Postal Service have any guidelines about appropriate Retirement Ceremonies?

As far as I know it always depended on whether they like you or not. Some people they bend over backwards for when the person is retiring, others, NOTHING. Always thought that was a really crappy way to treat people.

Besides receiving a certificate stating how many years you have been in the postal service; you will receive nothing. Oh wait, you may receive a surplus USPS plastic mug and/or a USPS inkpen.

window wonder, after paying APWU dues for 34 years they sent me a pin. If you have VERY STRONG magnifying glass you might be able to see it says APWU Retiree. At least the union got me nice raises over the years.
The USPS gave me a pin and a clock that doesn't work, and a picture of a stamp w/a letter saying happy retirement. 40 yrs civil service {6 yrs military} pin and a check for $500.00 for my 40 years. I think they were trying to give me a heart attack with the $500.

any one know if I can be fired for having my wages garnished? Looks like I am facing two separate filings..

People get their wages garnished all the time. Craft AND management. The USPS doesn't care. You could have a dozen filings. It isn't their money being garnished.

I received a certificate of appreciation from district manager; however,
my name was misspelled. Should I request another one.

georgia peach /m424 Nah, that would be like a homeless person, who receives $10 from a stranger. But the homeless person wants $20. Not very appreciated, if you ask me.

No, it's like a homeless person who receives a counterfeit $10 from a stranger, and asks for the real thing.
