Just some quick thoughts about what I've been reading lately --
Read William Sanders' "When All the World is on Fire" last night in the Year's Best, and liked it a lot. Very well-written story, a bit depressing, with excellent setting details and just the right amount of world-building. Fascinating stuff. I'll be on the lookout for more of his stuff.
And this morning at the gym I started reading the first of Allen Steele's "Coyote" stories. This one is "Stealing Alabama," and it's great so far. World-building, intrigue, switching points of view. My only complaint is that some of the future details feel a bit old-fashioned and traditional. Some of the female characters feel like women from the 70s. But I'm only about 10 pages in. Looks like a great series.
Still trying to jam all my reading in for the Hugos, for which I have not voted yet and probably won't 'til the last possible moment on July 30.
Anyone else read these stories? Comment away!!!!
