And Gorgar, you're right: the Amiga reigns supreme! And by the way, I'm 39, this is my VERY FIRST internet experience, and who better to do it with but one of the co-creators of the greatest literary entity ever conceived-- "bOINGbOING"!! This is fun! I've only been on fo only a few minutes, & already I understand why people get addicted to this stuff so easily!! Hello, everybody!!!

Hehe, yer bringing back memories of early 90's strolls down the (old) Drag near UT campus Austin, to captain Quackenbush's where I'd light up a clove and unfurl the new Mondo 2000 and bOINGbOing issue I just bought at Europa books in the Dobie.

Cary: Welcome aboard, but be sure to get outside now and then. I have a friend who stayed on-line so much he forgot how to walk on dirt.

I hear ya, Stef, but I just dropped in on "Google" for just a sec, and I tracked somebody down who I haven't heard from in 17 YEARS-- all in a matter of SECONDS! I can't help it! I'm hooked already!! The 'Net rocks!!! And please, someone get Mark & Carla's blessing/permission, & bring back the 'bOING!

Poor Mark, he gets a break with an Apple ad and then gets called a bad actor. Good job, I hope you take your anxious regular guy 'act' on the road soon!

Gee Mark, suffer those slings and arrows, baby! BAH! Just ignore them. They reel in shock. Bravo for your courage to even consider switching... going against that HUGE status quo, and welcome to the coolest, most rock solid computing experience in the world.

Over on Metafilter, they're debating whether Mark Frauenfelder is a real person or not: http://www.metafilter.com/mefi/17705#288116I wonder how his daughter will cope with learning that her daddy is a "Apple Marketing Droid."

If they get paid more than a t-shirt iron-on maker, I'm ready to sign up.

Great ad, Mark, no jokes. But please tell me you scored more than a lousy peripheral. If so, you need an agent.

Which is an improvement over the tired OS wars the makes up the rest of the thread. Suprised to hear myself say this (given how many of those flame wars I've started on vrious mailing lists) but aren't we all really beyond that sort of discussion by now?
