I remember my first visit to the Rock Quarry. It was senior skip day, but my sophomore year in the spring of '94. To me that place was a legend because I remember my older brother (by 9 years) always talking about it when I was younger. What a day that was. Not only did I get to experience that legendary place, but it was also the first time I smoked the "magic". That is a very interesting story. The one thing I liked most about that place and that day was how all sorts of people were there. It seemed that getting to skip school with no consequences, drink beer in the sun, and swim all day was enough to break down all the normal high school clicks. I had a really good time and visited the place often for the remainder of that year. I've often thought I would like to go back to the Quarry just to sit on Black Rock and admire the beauty, but for some reason I never have. I almost think it is better to just close my eyes and I can see the place exactly as it was and it almost feels that I am there again. I just hope that the kids going there now have as good a time as I did then. You were right about the people jumping off the infamous Black Rock. I did it once after the last day of finals that year. I was not one of the drunk morons; I was just dumb, 16, and invincible. All I can really say about it is that it hurt!!
