Me and some family travelled from indiana to oregon in hopes of making it to the oregon gathering. We made it to portland and then everything kind of fell apart. The individual who said they could give us a ride to the gathering ended up changing their mind and took us to portland instead. Currently two of us have been able to find rides to the gathering and now the other two of us are stuck in portland. We both were able to find houseing for the moment but are still looking to get to the gathering, hoping any kind individual who is heading that way might be willing to pick up a brother and a sister on the way.
Any family in the porland area who would like to hangout give me a call, my number is 574-386-7215. We're strangers in a strange town and looking for some good people to pass the time while we're here.
love and peace.

Did you know that @ Safeway if a product rings up as a price other then
the tag price its free, not just the lower tag price,... FREE ... I
know cuz I work there, It use to be a known fact, but were not alowed
to tell anyone abought it anymore. You Olny get it for free if you
say "well, dont I get that for Free then" the casher will just try
to 'fix' it for you, but dont let him tell them you want it for free.
It also works if (mistakenly) tags become switched. Its not
your falt that the stocker put it in the wrong place, you still get it
4 free... (try it, its the unspoken store policy)

am looking for KIND brothers and sisters that love kids and to garden and be with Mother Nature. I am open to whoever the Universe sends me, and My ideal situation would be a spiritual, fun, mother and daughter(6-12 yrs old), or father and daughter, that recieve money to eat, or have some kind of way to feed themselves without going to the city everyday, that want to stay out in nature and garden and go to the creek and grow!
But don't not respond if you are not that person, I am OPEN to many different kinds of beautiful people.
I am living in FL, about 30-45 minutes outside of Tallahassee! Great Town. Living on 25 acres with a creek at the bottom of a beautiful ravine. Its heaven:-) I am a very intelligent and spiritual 26 yr old with a 6 yr old daughter named Irie. We have been spending the last few days putting the garden in! So most of the work is done:-), we just need kids to come watch and water.
The deal is to clean out this old trailer that is on the land, in exchange for staying here for 2 yrs! Sweet deal! The people I am making the deal with are kinda nuts, but very nice.
Now I have just met this really rich guy that wants to take us travelling (a few days every 2 weeks or so) and so I need somebody(s) to come out here and play and and watch the garden and my cats for me while I'm away. I want kids that want to play, but are also willing to keep things clean. I can't stand litter, so if you litter, just skip this message.
I have done a lot of work cleaning out the trailer, so now it is liveable! You are welcome to stay in the trailer while I am not here, and if we really get along then you can stay in the trailer when I am here! there are also more rooms that can be cleaned out and lived in. There is also my VW bus thats parked in the yard that can be lived in, many places to camp too.
So if you are kind and this sounds good to you then call (850-319-8828 after 9pm(EST) or on weekends only please) or email me soon! I have about a month until my first travels.

Even before I got this offer to go travelling I wanted to put a post up and find rainbows that want to join me out here, this is just the universe's way of motivating me. Its such a sweet life and I want others to share it with.
Let Love Rule

New rainbow networking site for ecovillages, co-ops, int. communities & more :o)

Dear friends,

Hello everyone. I have attended three gatherings including WV. I recently helped to create a new, not-for-profit website to help network peaceful and community seeking people all over the world.

The newest features of this website are:

+ Free Photoclassifieds, which include a category for relationships, cohousing, ecovillages and intentional communities. All photoclassifieds can remain up for 90 days, you can renew them automatically and they have email anonymizer (which keeps your email private).

+ Search over 11 million blogs (which will help you find other people interested in rainbow gatherings and other communities by searching for your keyword interests)

+Add your link to our links page (with unlimited description of your site, blog, email list etc.,)

+Add your community event to our worldwide community events calendar

+Rainbow gathering discussion forums, Bulletin boards and search features for other forums such as cohousing, ecovillage, intentional communities and over 50 other discusion forums.

+ under 'network tools' you will see a link thats says 'rainbow info.' It has hourly and daily news feeds in the left and right columns from rainbow newsgroups all over the world and other newsgroups such as lifestyles barefoot, rainbow caravans, grateful dead, phish and more

All services are free and discussion forums do not requre registration.

Thank you everyone for helping to make the Wv gathering so wonderful and thank you clean up crew. Thank you all for helping to create a world of peace, equality and community.

Love for the people,
-dsame

Radical nomadic tribe  100
07-12-2005 07:33 PM ET (US)
I'm starting a nomadic tribe, intended to both demonstrate alternatives to mainstream society and promote the widespread sharing of information on tribalism, biocentric ideas, and the threat of society. I'm looking for good people interested in a somewhat minimalist tribe to travel nationaly or globaly, supporting each other through non-mainstream paths like art and music, and working to spread some of the messages that a modern destructive society needs so desperately to hear. I'd like to create a truly tribal experience, and I think that there's a lot of fun to be had and good things to be accomplished. Knowledge of tribalism, life sciences, and social problems a plus, but not neccesary, there's plenty for all of us to learn. No hard drugs, alchoholism, sexism, racism, or negative lifestyles/behaviors please. Knowledge of tribalism, life sciences, and social problems a plus, but not neccesary, there's plenty for all of us to learn.

Like to explore a new path together? I'd love to hear from you.

2005 Annual Rainbow Gathering for Peace and Healing
July 1st - 7th, 2005

Directions:

From Elkins, WV take 33 east past Bowden to Alpena (approx.13 mi). At the Alpena Lodge & Cafe (the only thing there) take a left (north) up County Rd. 12, also known as Galdwin Rd and CR26 in some areas. CR12 goes thru the countryside and dives down toward the Glady Fork (approx 5 mi). At the bottom of the hill, just before CR12 crosses the Glady Fork River & turns into CR10-Sully Rd, take a hard (120%) left on to FR 162, which is Bus Village. Go to the gated end of Bus Village (FR162). Just beyond the gate is a meadow on the left. At the back right of this meadow is Easy Street, a gentle grassy ancient railroad bed, which goes off to the left. Follow Easy Street up to Main Trail and take a right to Main Circle, which is the third meadow on the trail.

From the East, from Harrisonburg, VA take 33 west into Wavy past Franklin, WV and Seneca rocks. Stay on US 33 past Wymer to Alpena, take a right on CR12 and follow the above.

If you are planning to fly, consider flying into Charleston, Pittsburgh,
Baltimore or Washington DC. Driving from Pittsburgh would be the
fastest; it is approx. 150 miles away and Baltimore the furthest
distance, at approx. 250 miles. If you are considering taking a bus, the
closest stop are in Clarksburg, which is about 50 miles from Elkins.

Funding the Rainbow Guide is a continuous, ongoing process. I am sure we
can all sympathize with putting together a project that costs thousands
of dollars for a group that never charges for anything. Historically,
the Guide has come up short on printing and shipping costs and has left
the Focalizers, that have already donated a tremendous amount of time
and effort, "holding the bag" or Guides left sitting unshipped. Please
Family, make supporting the Rainbow Guide a priority, as we desire to
create a publication and website of which we can be proud. The funds
that we generate set the range for the resources that we can use. Give
early, as the time we spend trying to find financing takes away from
creative efforts we could use for making the Guide.

The Rainbow Guide is freely distributed, but not freely printed.
Donations of $5.00 will help create a beautiful Rainbow Guide for our
family. All contributions are confidential and will be used in a
respectful manner.

Funds needed to print 2005 Rainbow Guide: $118 To make donations to the
Rainbow Guide as simple as possible, we now accept contributions through
PayPal -- for those of you able to make electronic payments.

Or, if you would rather, send your donations to:

with respect and hard work, do lend your support and kind energies to

Howdy Folks!

2005 Annual Rainbow Gathering Spring Counsel has consented that Seed
Camp will start on Tuesday, June 14. On the same day, lightlines will
announce the specific directions and Howdy Folks will be distributed.
Information will also be posted on http://welcomehere.org ,
http://welcomehome.org, through the Tribal Mailer and other kind websites.

The Annual Rainbow Gathering for Peace and Healing will assemble
peacefully in West Virginia in the Monongahela National Forest somewhere
in the vicinity of the town of Elkins. Since several sites in the same
area are still being considered, the exact distance of the site from
Elkins is still unclear.

If you are planning to fly, consider flying into Charleston, Pittsburgh,
Baltimore or Washington DC. Driving from Pittsburgh would be the
fastest; it is approx. 150 miles away and Baltimore the furthest
distance, at approx. 250 miles. If you are considering taking a bus, the
closest stop are in Clarksburg, which is about 50 miles from Elkins.
Greyhound bus service is available to Clarksburg from Pittsburgh,
Baltimore and DC. Additionally there are many folks sharing rides so
please check The Kind Ride Share located at: http://kindrideshare.org

For specific and timely directions check with your favorite Rainbow
website or call the light lines after June 14.

Ozark Rainbow Counsel Notes - On the land May 7th, 2005

About thirty or so folks where in circle on a beautiful day deep in the
heart of the Ozarks sharing kind vibrations, wise words and some
delicious food to nourish the body. The feather was passed and
introductions where given. Topics of interest where the dates for the
Ozark Spring Regional. It was suggested that in the future the dates be
refocused to June 1 so that more kids that are in school could attend. A
later date would also ensure that the recreational waters would be
warmer as would the overall nighttime temperatures in the Ozarks. The
location for the 2005 Spring Regional was condensed to be at Cook
Springs:

Ozark Rainbow Spring Regional Gathering
May 13th - 20th, 2005 //// Come Early * Stay Late
Cook Springs near Centerville Missouri
http://welcomehere.org/states/Missouri/

Magic Bowl Kitchen will be serving seed camp with other kitchens on
their way throughout the week. Oz Kitchen and portions of The Peace
Conspiracy kitchen will be on site by Saturday May 14th to relieve the
seed camp kitchen and Bungalo Kitchen Crew will run support and have
already built a sweatlodge for relaxation and Spiritual purposes.
Logistics are being worked out for a water filter setup to tap one of
the main springs and it was requested that one of the Katadyne
Expedition filters be brought to the Ozark Regional Spring Gathering
for family use throughout the gathering. Current steward of the family
filters were not in counsel so every effort is being made to contact
them. Folks are waiting on CALM to arrive so please be safe coming into
the gathering and also along the trail. Beware of LEO activity on the
roads coming into the gathering and know your rights. Be legal and be
safe, carpool if you can. http://rainbowguide.info/Raps/RAPeng.php

Location is some what level, handi-accessible and plenty of room for
buses and parking. Site is along the Black River which is spring fed
and has recreational waters. Family friendly, bring the whole tribe.

Much support was expressed for the (A) Gathering of the Tribes which
will be held in the southern portion of the Ozarks at Rippee Access
July 1 - 7th, 2005. While the circle recognize that this tribal
gathering may not be everyone's personal heartsong it was acknowledged
that a large number of people want this gathering and since it has been
to many counsels since the Spring Regional 2004 this vision received
the blessing of the circle by passing the feather in silence. Those
interested in this vision are encouraged to plug in to the energy with
the best of intentions and share in unity with the Annual Gathering on
the east coast by observing silence on the morning of the 4th.
http://welcomehere.org/states/Missouri/

Family coming to either of these gatherings are encouraged to bring
food to share with the kitchens, help keep the area clean by packing
out trash and to respect the springs, waterways and wild critters by
not disturbing them unnecessarily. Latrines, composts, and gray water
areas should be marked and soap should be used properly.

Other topics discussed in counsel circle were numerous. The overall
mood was vibrant and the energy was high. Many folks already on site
and the Ozark Spring Regional 2005 is now underway. If you need more
information, directions or help getting to the gathering feel free to
call one of the Missouri Liteline numbers for assistance.

Yonder Farm just outside of Jeffersonville Georgia- Out of Macon Georgia you
can take either the interstate I-16 or highway 80. If you take I-16 go East
to Highway 96 and go North until you reach Jeffersonville. Highway 80 goes
right through Jeffersonville. In any case, take highway 18 North through
town and look for The Yonder Family Farm Sign 1 mile on the right 1 mile
outside of town. Welcome Home (literally). A map link will be posted a week
before TGC. Those who come early are expected to help set up- i.e. work on
digging shitters etc.

Yonder Farm: This has been talked about since July 2004, and was posted on
AGR in October. As usual, some people complain and want to do their own
council up north indoors, but have yet to announce it publically. In any
event, this was already posted and does have support especially from those
who: want to have a nice warm outdoor Thanksgiving Council, want to have it
on private land without having to deal with the FS, want to sidestep the
high holie agenda/propaganda, want to continue and actualize permanent
rainbow style communities immediately (this yonder family community is 100
acres of nice woods with plenty of liveable shelters and camping spaces and
is open to all peaceable people), want to be able to unplug from the grid
and/or be able to turn others on to making a living (and having an income)
working in this and/or other rainbow style communities. This TGC will also
handle the normal Thanksgiving rainbow business such as mailings, choosing a
banking council, deciding when & where scouts can meet, and Spring Council.
The Vision Council feathers are already there. Although it is highly unlikey
that the annual gathering will be in Georgia, it will make an excellent
climate during Thanksgiving weekend.

Also, you can check out their site and see some of the things they have been
into at Yonder Farm at http://www.yonderfamer.org and
http://www.yonderfarm.net
Please distribute this info far and wide- especially to any lightlines and
other rainbow related groups you may have a connection to. -woodstock-

Aloha,
Intentional community has been a goal of mine for years, and through several setbacks and disappointments I decided to just "build it and they will come". I am certain we can find ways to contribute to each others efforts without sacrificing our own. I look forward to a mutually beneficial co-operation.
I am still in the founding stages, and at this time, being only three acres we will be more of a transitory than permanent community. You can view my web pages at:

Any suggestions, information, or whatever you can offer is most appreciated.

Hey Now!,

I am looking for kind suggestions on how to deal with Aaron Fritz. As many
of you know he has been spreading lies on the internet trying to convince
folks that our tribe intends to incorporate the Rainbow Family. This is
plainly ludicrous and nothing could be further from the truth. As of late
has taken to sending viruses to many of the folks on our forums as well as
attempting to hack into the community server. As if this was not smarmy
enough he has also taken to posting all sorts of diatribe on our open source
programs and being very hostile to those people who have contacted him via
email trying to change this very unpeaceful path he has chosen to follow.

During the Annual Gathering in California he spent most of his time going
from camp to camp trying to build support for his boycott and looking to
drum up hatred within the family. This was to no avail as many folks brushed
him off and sent him down the trail packing. Others have tried to intervene
and speak reason to him, brother Patch spent several hours working on a way
to mediate with Aaron who never responded to Patches kind offer to assist in
a peaceful manner.

I am wondering if anyone here has any suggestions on how we as a peace
seeking tribe might openly deal with this unreasonable attack on our persons
and properties. I am sure that some elder might have words of advice or
someone who is new to the circle might enlighten us as how to proceed in a
Rainbow manner.

Looking for answers, any and all help considered.

Hi! Can anyone help me find my daughter??!! Her name is Tricia Clark, from Salt Lake City, 5 foot 2, eyes of blue, long blonde hair, 20 years old. Last seen in Chico CA. where she was following String Cheese. There was an attempted rape perpertrated against her, and she was beaten leading to two black eye's and a broken nose. She had been at the Rain Bow gathering prior to traveling with SCI. If anyone has any info I'd appreciate a response @ djc10952@yahoo.com. If you see her, please tell her that her parents are very concerned, that we love her, and we're not angry, for sure, just very worried, and that Dad has paid all of her cell-phone bill, so that she can call any time on that, or 1-800 collect for ANYTIME!!!! Please help if you can!!! God Bless and go in peace!

Acres of Kindness
This effort has produced a large variety and amount of fresh food for the
Annual Gathering of the Tribes. Currently there are several small convoys of
food being delivered to the site every few days. Help is appreciated in any
yoga you feel inspired to volunteer. We need folks to stop and help pick the
harvest and deliver it to the gathering. The peas and the beans are in bloom
and we are getting several hundred a day. By the time someone gets here
there will be turnips lettuce and tomatoes also. If you can, bring your own
boxes. Folding wax boxes are best I guess. There is also a need for plastic
tubs that can hold water for shipping lettuce and such, which we will pull
and ship by the root. For those of you who don't know we are in three sites
north of Sacramento and of course we always need donations. : )

Annual Rainbow Gathering 2004

The 2004 North American Rainbow Gathering (hence referred to as the
Gathering) will once again be in the Great Basin states of North America.
(Utah, Nevada, California) from July 1 - July 7. The vision council
reaffirmed last year's consensus, because they felt that with the signed
permit for the 2003 Utah gathering, Michigan's vision council consensus
hadn't been met.
Here is the consensus of the Vision council, reached around 3:15 on the
afternoon of July 11,2003.

"We, the Vision Council of the 2003 Rainbow Family of Living Light Annual
gathering in Utah, on 7/11/03, consent for the 2004 Annual Gathering of the
Tribes to continue with the Michigan consensus now defined as California,
Utah or Nevada with the primary focus and Thanksgiving Council being in
California." After consensus further discussion led to the following: "We,
the people, affirm the value of the Rainbow Family Tribal Council held daily
July 1-7 at Main Circle and heartfully call for all the family to
participate."

At 12:25 today (June 10th, 2004), Spring Council, sitting on the land at Dry
Creek Campground consented to use Bear Camp Flat for the 2004 Gathering.
Directions From Madeline: Go east on Blue Lake road to Patterson-Sawmill
road (Long Valley road) follow signs to Patterson Meadow, continue eastward
to Homestead Meadow (parking area). Welcome Home!!!

There is also a suggestion to avoid county Rd 64, which is loaded with
logging trucks, and could be accident prone.

The current weather at Bear Camp Flat is very cold and raining. Please,
anyone considering coming home at this time, be prepared, good shelter, warm
clothes and adequate foot wear. --------- S

We also need 55g and 300g food grade water barrels. The 300g barrels are
available near Chico. These once held Olive Oil so will need to be washed
with dish soap, rinsed then bleached out (1tbs per g of water) then allowed
to air dry. 2-4 of these would be fantastic for the filter system. Contact
Rob Savoy for more info on where to get these.

A web site is also at: http://www.ashevillecommunity.org/hawker/water/
Explaining some of the water stuff. All kitchens are encouraged to bring at
least 200 feet of 3/4" black hose plus connectors to other size pipe.

there will be a need for a big harvest, and we are looking for good ideas,

plastic in the back of a pickup truck, fill it with veggies and a little
water, and maybe ice, cover it with a tarp, and drive it in. Of course any

Hey kids - just wanted to say whats up to all the family that showed up at the May potluck - it was a big turnout for the beginning of the season!! There was at least 40 people - half of them were little kids. It was cold out, but people hung out for a long time, did some drumming, and brought tons of food! There were alot of new faces & I hope to see everybody again in June.

selling a WHEELCHAIR LIFT VAN - '86 ASAP!! (Chicago)

Dear Ones: stay together and high. See somehow is that all that is happening is holy and what has looked like a problem is in truth another opportunity.

And so I am selling a WHEELCHAIR LIFT VAN as it is or just as a van or without the lift. I need to get to the NEtherlands and want to sell it asap. It is in Chicago, has Wisconsin plates. I have been driving it daily. That is a comment on the usability and reliability of it.
It needs all kinds of junk. So? Exhaust system and that thingy that is hooked to the turn signal stick and the power steering unit are the big examples. Chicago police just don't bother.
It is a minivan, 86 aerostar ford, not so big inside but with a raised roof, no more headliner. OK so I drew pictures in the leftover foam with my fingers. I have stayed in it and it was naturally way warmer than a regular cargo van.
It has 105K original miles, my parents bought it new and had it converted. The lift is a Braun semi-automatic with a 400lb static lift capacity. The lift is for a passenger not a driver. (read that twice please)
There is banged at the corners body damage, the lights still work. The left 10 inches of the front bumper are missing.
I have been trying to put a site about it at http://geocities.yahoo.com/spiritposts but each time I try to get the applets to write on the site it trashes my internet explorer.
Price: I dunno. I was thinking of $2000 but at this time I will consider anything. I wont drive it anywhere cause I need to gogogo. (First to LA (rides?) then to Amsterdam.)
Write me about anything your heart desires.

PS It says "massage therapist" on the side of the roof but I am sure it will come off. I wrote it with that t-shirt paint from Michaels.
PPS If you know anyone I can look up in the Netherlands, please tell me. Ik wil graag hem onmoeten.

1973 VW BUS

Hello to you all, i just wanted to drop a note to say that i am trying to sell my -1973 VW BUS-. Herbie is very near and dear to me, but with finacial dificulties, i find that is the only thing i have worth money to sell.

He is red and white, fairly new paint, rebuilt engine with about 6,000 miles on it, and all paperwork and records since it was rebuilt about 10 years ago. There is a bed in it now, with one seat folded under and the other seat is sitting in storage, also in good shape. Any questions or to see a pic please mail me.

Would be interested in a trade for a reliable van or similar vehicle of sorts. I originally paid $4,500 for it 2 years ago when i bought it. Price is very negotiable, since i have had Herbie for sale last summer also.

Thank you much,
Peace and Love

Hello Rainbow Family Members. I am not a member, but my brother, Ralph is. I haven't seen him since 1986. He's under the mistaken impression that his family wants nothing to do with him, because one of his sisters lied and told him that. We have never stopped searching for him and have been in contact with other Rainbow Family members over the years tracking his movements, but never locating him. I recently found my brother listed at an address in La Cross, Wisconsin. Are there any Rainbow Family members in that area who would be willing to be a go-between and make contact with my brother, to find out if he wishes any contact with his family? Thank you for any help you can provide. Please respond to my e-mail address: ksilverstrim@yahoo.com Thank you. Karen.

Shawnee Rainbow Gathering 2002 ~ October 16th - 23rd ~

This year the energy is working towards a kinder gathering and if it is in your heart to come and be on the land with your brothers and sisters we ask that you respect our consensus and do not bring drugs and alcohol. That energy is suffering our gatherings and we do not want it in our circle. Thank you in advance for caring enough to leave those items behind. We have lots of love to share and we can do this without the bad karma, respect is the key.

I pervade the entire universe in my unmanifested form. All creatures find their existence in me, but I am not limited by them. Behold my divine mystery! These creatures do not really dwell in me, and though I bring them forth and support them, I am not confined within them. They move in me as the winds move in every direction in space.

A couple of rednecks are out in the woods hunting when one of them falls to the ground. He doesn't seem to be breathing; his eyes are rolled back in his head. The other guy whips out his cell phone and calls 911.
He gasps to the operator, "Bubba is dead! What can I do?"
The operator, in a calm soothing voice says, "Just take it easy. I can help. First, let's make sure he's dead."
There is a silence, then a shot is heard. The guy's voice comes back on the line. He says, "OK, now what?"

How to Keep A Healthy Level of Insanity

1. At lunch time, sit in your parked car with sunglasses on and point a hair dryer at passing cars. See if they slow down.

2. Page yourself over the intercom. Don't disguise your voice.

3. Every time someone asks you to do something, ask if they want fries with that.

4. Put your garbage can on your desk and label it "in"

5. Put decaf in the coffee maker for 3 weeks. Once everyone has gotten over their caffeine addictions, switch to espresso.

6. In the memo field of all your checks, write "for sexual favours".

7. Finish all your sentences with "in accordance with the prophecy."

8. Don't use any punctuation marks

9. As often as possible, skip rather than walk.

10. Ask people what sex they are. Laugh hysterically after they answer.

11. Specify that your drive-through order is "to go".

12. Sing along at the opera.

13. Go to a poetry recital and ask why the poems don't rhyme.

14. Put mosquito netting around your work area. Play a tape of jungle sounds all day.

15. Five days in advance, tell your friends you can't attend their party because you're not in the mood.

16. Have your co-workers address you by your wrestling name, Rock Hard Kim.

17. When the money comes out the ATM, scream "I won!", "I won!" "3rd time this week!!!!!"

18. When leaving the zoo, start running towards the parking lot, yelling "run for your lives, they're loose!!"

19. Tell your children over dinner. "due to the economy, we are going to have to let one of you go."

And the final way to keep a healthy level of insanity.......

20. Send this e-mail to everyone in your address book, even if they sent it to you or asked you not to send them stuff like this.

hehe, this last person seemed like they really wanted to piss somebody off. Nothing they said made sense though, but it's kind of a funny attempt you must admit.

Here's something a little more on the lighter side, a funny!

Why Did the Chicken Cross the Road ? (Pagan-style)

Alexandrian/Gardnerian: To reveal this would be to break my oath of secrecy. I can say, though, that it *really* is an ancient rite, dating far back in time, back even before 1951, and I have learned it from an unbroken lineage.

As Gerald said, it takes a chicken to make an egg.

Asatru: First, we don't believe in a "One Chicken" or a "Hen and Rooster." We believe in many chickens. Second, "crossing the road" is part of the three levels, or worlds, and the chicken simply crossed from one level to another.

Hail to the Chickens!

British Traditional: The word "chicken" comes from a very specific Old English word ("gechekken"), and it only properly applies to certain fowl of East Anglia or those descended therefrom. As for the rest, I suppose they are doing something remotely similar to crossing the road, but you must remember that traditional roads are not to be confused with the modern roads.

Celtic: In County Feedbeygohn on Midsummer's day, there is still practiced St. Henny's Dance, which is a survival of the old pagan Chicken Crossing fertility rite. Today, modern pagans are reviving the practice, dedicated to the Hen and the Green Rooster.

Ceremonial: "Crossing the road" is a phrase that summarizes many magical structures erected and timed by the chicken to produce the energy necessary for the intention of the travel across the road. For example, the astrological correspondences had to be correct, the moon had to be waxing (if the chicken intended to come to the other side of the road) or waning (if the chicken intended to flee to the other side of the road), and the chicken had to prepare herself through fasting and proper incantations. Note: certain forms of invocation (summoning an egg *inside* your chicken self) can produce abnormal or even dangerous eggs and should only be conducted inside a properly erected barnyard.

Chaos: Thinking in terms of "roads" and "crossings" is simply looking at the formal, typically perceived structure of chicken crossing space-time. We, instead, focus on the possibility of chicken crossing itself; what appears
to be a random act is thus actually the norm - it is the **road** which is the freak of chance. Indeed, quantum mechanics now demonstrates what we knew
all along: two roads can simultaneously exist in the same place at the same time. Thus, by attuning ourselves to the dynamic energy (called "crossing"), we can manifest the road. Of course, to the unknowledgeable, this appears as a
chicken crossing the road.

Dianic: The chykyn ("chicken" is term of patriarchal oppression) sought to reclaim for herself the right to be on the other side of the road, after it had been denied to her for centuries. By doing so, she reawakened the power
of the Hen within herself.

Discordian: cock-a-doodle-doo !

Druid: To get to the sacred grove, of course! Keep in mind that 99% of everything written about chickens-crossing-the-road is pure hogwash, based on biased sources. Yes, there were a few unfortunate chicken sacrifices in the past, but that is over now.

Eclectic: Because it seemed right to her at the time. She used some Egyptian style corn and a Celtic sounding word for the road and incorporated some Native American elements into her Corn-name, Chicken-Who-Dances-and-Runs-with-the-Wolves.

Faery: In twilight times and under sparkling stars, those properly trained can still see the chickens crossing the roads. Reconnecting with these "fey-fowl" as they cross is crucial to restoring the balance between the energies of modern development and living with the earth.

Family Traditional: Growing up, we didn't think much about "crossing the road." A chicken was a chicken. It crossed the road because that was what worked to get her to the other side. We focused on what worked, and we worked
more with the elders of the barnyard and less with all this "guardians of the chickencoop" business. We didn't get our concepts of "chickens" or "the other side" from Gardner, either. You can choose not to believe us since we did
not "scratch down" on paper what was clucked to us orally (which, at certain times in history, was the only way to avoid becoming Easter chicken soup!), but that doesn't change the facts: there *were* real chickens, and they
really did* cross the road!

Kitchen Witch: The chicken crossed the road to get food, to get a rooster or to get away from me after I decided to have chicken for supper !

Left Hand Path: White, fluffy chickens prancing across the road ! Do you think that is *all* there is to crossing the road? Do you *dare* to know the Dark Side of crossing the road and the *other* path to self-development?

New Age: The chicken crossed the road because she chose this as one of her lessons to learn in this life. Besides, there was so much incense andbright white corn to explore on the Other Side.

Newbie: well, 'cause I read in this really kewl book that said, like, chickens are supposed to cross the road, right?

Posting on an Online Discussion Group: What do you mean <> ???!!!??? Haven't you read **any** of the previous posts? We've been [expletive deleted] debating every word of that question, painstakingly trying to come to some kind of answer. I know you wrote <was why chickens cross the road, I'm not looking for any chicken spells>> but I'm fed up with newbies who can't even bother to REEEEEEEEAAADDD the posts on that very topic! No, this is *not*a flame. But, I and several others here have the *maturity* to properly
explore and respond to this question, and we were properly trained; we *didn't*just read a book and think we were full-fledged chickens.
<much better after ranting>

Solitary: The chicken didn't want to be part of a coven or an oven.

Shaman: Crossing the road is a way to reconnect with the healing, visionary lifeways of the past. Chickens have long known this, but increasingly the Rooster's Movement is adding more roosters to the crossings too.

Snert: Hey, are you guys really chickens? Can you give me a spell that will make a chicken cross the road?

Wiccan: The chicken crossed the road because she felt like she was finally "coming home." She could do it alone or with others, but she had to call to the Guardians of the Watchtowers of the Barnyard first ... uhm, after casting
the circle.

How Some Pagan Authors Might Respond:

Margot Adler: The recent chicken resurgence, it can be argued, is directly based on a response to the suburban middle class experience. While I found that chickens-who-cross-roads who responded to my survey are of a wide
range of ages and backgrounds, I discovered some trends in the "why" of crossing the road. For some it is was freedom. For some it is chickensim. Many chickens told me they crossed the road for intellectual satisfaction. One thing is clear: the growth of road crossing by chickens is expanding in the numbers of chickens and in the ways they cross the road, including at chicken festivals and for political blocking of roads.

Isaac Bonewits: Real crossing-the-road, we have seen, is a very interwoven and complicated subject. Our conclusion could be that real crossing-the-road is the build up of chicken emotion in conjunction with chicken concepts
to vary the modulation of chicken energy so as to effect the modulation of the road's energy. That's all! Perhaps it is unfortunate, though, to use the word "chicken" in relation to it, since the "C" word is being used now in a way it was never used before in the English language and is an utterly
meaningless term without a qualifying adjective. And this, of course, is the fault of the medieval Christian Church, through the Gothic Chickens it invented and used as the basis of persecuting men, women and chickens. The word "chicken" itself comes from an Indo-European root, "cheeka/e" meaning "one who lays eggs," and it has no relation to the later Anglo-Saxon word for "wise spirit
of flight," as so often stated by certain contemporary "Chics."
An'Chk'Rrhod
("Our Own Chickens on Our Own Roads"), an authentic Neo-Chicken Rooster
tradition, offers the best of paleo-, meso- and neo- Chickenism.

Carlos Castenada: 4/10/1964 I spent 14 hours, without food or water, sitting on the dirt and under the sun in front of Don Juan's house, grinding chicken feed. I asked Don Juan if I could have a drink of water, and he told me
that it was always this way, that a man who wanted to cross the road with the chicken cannot have any food or water till the chicken feed is ground. I asked Don Juan if the chicken is an ally, like the little smoke. Don Juan
seemed to get angry and stayed silent. After I completed grinding the corn, I hallucinated from heat exhaustion, and Don Juan said I was ready. As I collapsed to my side, I spilled the chicken feed around me. A chicken appeared to be eating the feed around me, and I became strangely absorbed in the vision. I heard Don Juan's voice tell me, "You must let the chicken cross the road into you. It is very painful, but for a man of knowledge it is easy"

Scott Cunningham: A chicken passes between the grasses, clucking. The wind blows, and the chicken knows, *knows*, that this is the time. She puts her energy into taking the steps, in harmony with the gravel and the stones of
the road. She is across; it is over, and the chicken stands in the field on the other side of the road. Natural chicken crossing is unique among most other branches of the art of chicken road crossing. It doesn't require years of collecting or fashioning coops, feeders or hen houses. Indeed, the
most important tools of natural chicken crossing are free: the road, the chicken and you, your personal chicken power. You're already familiar with it. You've felt it. You *are* a chicken. Crossing the road is you, with your chicken
need. And, you can do it on your own. After all, who initiated the first chicken?

Janet and Stewart Farrar: Since so many editions of Gardner's Chicken Book of Crossings have appeared in print (some accurate, some not), we think it won't "lay an egg" too much if we clearly present "The Chicken Crossing Rite,"
especially if we do so after two and half pages of well researched introduction set in six-point type. In version A of the Chicken Crossing Rite, we find many pseudo-archaisms (e.g., "Yea, Ye Anciente Rite of Ye Chiks
and Ye Rodes is a moste powerful Crafting, taking thy athame ..."); however, Doreen Valiente notes (in version C, which is what we present), and we
agree that underlying it all is a basic ritual for summoning the astral road through the spirit of the Chicken (drawn down in the person of the High Priestess, holding the black handled feed bin; of course, a second degree may
assist or perform the rite when....

Llewellyn's Practical Chicken Magick Series: To some people, the idea that "chickens crossing the road" is practical comes as a surprise. It shouldn't. The whole idea of Crossing the Road is practical for chickens. While Crossing the Road is also, and properly so, concerned with spiritual growth and
psychological transformation --the "why" of crossing the road-- every chicken's life must rest firmly on material roads. Crossing the Road is the flowering of chicken potential. And the profits from publishing all those
books on how to do so? Well, that ain't chicken feed.

Starhawk: The chicken crossed the road to reclaim the crossing experience, the experience of being fully alive, with streams and earth and rocks and road, in the fullness of her chickenhood after thousands of years of roosterarchy. The chicken crossing the road ---not a chicken laying eggs,
not a chicken being roasted and eaten--- a chicken strong and free, crossing the road, this is something I can believe in. We chickens, as chickens, can reclaim this in harmony with the Earth who gives life to all chickens and Who
has been terribly scratched by roosters.
Exercises: Dance the Spiral Chicken

Doreen Valiente: Old Chicken really did exist, and she really did cross the road. Gerald talked about her often, but she didn't cross the road til before I began studying with Gerald. Still, there are records of Old Chicken which
confirm her reality. As for all the comments that Gerald had a "thing" for chickens, that is simply not true. The reason we worked with chickens is really quite simple: it worked !

Silver Raven Wolf: Although many times people have asked me why exactly the chicken crossed the road, I often wonder myself. My point is that every chicken comes to the road in a different way, and there is no one correct way for the chicken to get to the road to be crossed. The study of crossing
the road is hard work if the chicken is going to develop any degree of proficiency. It is not something where you can just cluck yourself across the road. The first time my chicken crossed the road was for my chicken's friend whose rooster was being abusive. The chicken worked the steps for crossing the road after carefully considering all the reasons for crossing the road and all the steps she would have to take. Finally, my chicken just started clucking and flapping her wings and started across the road. When she reached
the other side, her friend's rooster was respectful! Afterwards, the chicken ate some corn to ground herself.

Other Chicken Humor:
As a chaotic Buddhist gourmet kitchen witch of family traditionalist leanings, I choose to participate in the parallel consciousness where said plump chicken (having realized its ability to bi-locate to what the uninitiated perceive as the "other" side of the road since it observed in
a moment of center that an alternative possibility for exquisite consumption lay just beyond understanding in that alternative other side of the road - why else would any creature of taste and proper upbringing exert the
apparent energy necessary to be perceived as movement) is now located in my boiling pot of soup (deemed sacred for today since it is producing soup for High Holiday - which we are celebrating eight days late since it coincides with a
family reunion). Oh, it's alright about boiling the chicken, I contacted its higher Self and identified my intent to use its physical form in a most respectful manner and my gratitude for the sacrifice of the creature now
known as Chicken (keeps the meet tender while cooking).

The journey IS the best part, I agree! Looking forward to seeing everybody on the way up, and the fun of rest area meetings and all of that!~! Making sure everybody has what they need, taking care of eachother on the way up before we even get there....the gathering starts:
as soon as you turn on your fucking car!!!
I am so blessed to be a part of all of this...

there's always lots of drama in the early stages, it's nothing new; give it time is what I say. Bugs, rain or shine, apocalypse, we'd still have a gathering! ;)

Here is an article written by the local newspaper near the gathering site:

http://www.ironwoodglobe.com/news.html

Also found this, posted by some dude who lives up there, thought it might be of interest:

I live approx 40 miles from the gathering and let me tell you, the bugs are quite nasty this year. Not trying to rain on anyones parade, just telling it like it is.
Temps in the low 80's and somewhat humid. Slightly more rain than usual. Black flies everywhere. Deer flies/horse flies (the kind that bite) are also around. Mosquitos are generally OK during the day but get vicious near dusk.
I would encourage anyone going to the gathering to be sure to take: insect repellent and rain gear. The Gathering is featured nightly on the local news--coverage generally features the Gathering in a negative light

Now for my own actual message: I can't wait! I can't wait!! I can't wait!!!!!!! :):):)

hello, family...i just want to jump in and share what info i have so far...the watersmeet site is far from ideal, with a serious bug problem and high water table...people should be prepared for these conditions before they go...it is a good idea to take a screen tent and lots of bug spray and plan for rain at least once while you're there. we really would like to move the site, but as you can imagine, moving that many people is not an easy task. please keep updated on the web up until the last minute before you go so you know for sure if the site has been moved or not. take good care of each other and yourselves..i will see you all when we get home!! lovin you all!!!

Hey kids...just wanted to send a little positivity out here in the midst of the insanity. As a reminder, there is about 25,000 people very focused on having a gathering. When that many people want to do something, it will be done...it is merely a matter of time before people get their shit together and collaberate. It is unfortunate that there is miscommunication going on right now, but as I have seen in the past, this has happened before, just maybe not this close to the date of the gathering. In just one week, I believe we'll all be sitting in a meadow together...doing what we do every year. In a very short time, the web of souls will get closer and closer, people will bump into one another, and it will all happen! Try not to feel too anxious/worried - Lovin you and see you all soon!!

read this on one of the welcomehome.org websevers.................................Where the Gathering will be in 2002
This year the North American Rainbow Gathering (hence referred to as the Gathering) will be in Michigan near the town of Watersmeet in Ottawa National Forest, from July 1 - July 7.

Directions:
From Watersmeet, Michigan go about 5 miles north to a sign for "Robbin's Pond Campground". Turn left. Go about 1/2 mile to the 1st left onto FS 2530. Drive down FS 2530 about 4-5 miles to the parking lot. Welcome Home!
For an overview map, go to this link, while this link is more of a closeup of where I think the site is. I'll nail down exactly where it is shortly.

Ignore all rumors of cancellation or organization! Live Lightly with the Land and People!

so there you go it is one of the severs but not on the other two

Hello:
My name is Cyndi and I attended my first (and only;-( gathering back in 1989-- it completely changed my life!Since then, I've tried to be a "normal", responsible person, mommy, etc, but I've never forgotten my experiences at the gathering or on the road. I'm not sure if I know any of the Kenosha family-- I had a shop down there a long time ago-- Indigenous Peoples. I kindof disappeared not long after I closed it to leave town (bad breakup/divorce-- had to start over). Now I'm a nurse/childbirth educator in racine, and hope to become a midwife in the next few years.
I would really like to hook up with some (rainbow) family before I leave on the 29th-- here or at a park would be good (we have a pool;-). I may be able to offer a ride, but probably only have room for one. Does anyone have any contacts with CALM? I've been trying to reach them to talk about helping out, but haven't gotten touch with anyone yet.
When is most everone leaving from down here? Anyone want to caravan?
Cyndi
