Katherine "Geek Love" Dunn's first novel is an autobiographical story about the time she spent in jail after getting tricked into passing a bad check by a magazine-sales cult she was sucked into when she was 18. It is one of the most horrifying things I've ever read; in many ways, it makes Geek Love seem tame by comparison.

What's the name of the novel, Cory? I couldn't find it on Amazon.

It's called "Attic." It looks like it's long out of print. AbeBooks lists a bunch of used first edition hardcovers for sale, for between $29 and $450!

Mark, I've seen your ad in the New Yorker and Time. Wow! Where are your ego-blog updates?

Hi Pat! Well, I figure people are sick of my boasting. I will say, though, that you'll soon be able to see my smirking mug in a very prominent location in a few weeks. I can't wait!

I learned long ago that tooting your own horn (assuming you do it charmingly) never annoys your friends! Can't wait to hear where you'll show up next!

I wish Catherine Dunn still wrote books. I've had two copies of Geek Love stolen from me, but I'm lucky enough to still have my copy of Truck.
